Find Free Money for University

I've recently been developing a platform that allows current and future students to find money for university through scholarships.

With insane HECS debts, what better bargain can there be if you were able to receive a scholarship that would pay for it all?

Scholify is an online platform to enable Australian students to search and apply for Scholarships to allow them to attend tertiary education.
We realised that everyone has experienced difficulties in searching for a scholarship. Online sites are out dated and scattered.

I would like to invite members of OzBargain to try the beta version of Scholify.
Make sure you register an account so that you can create a profile which will display scholarships that are suited directly to you.
I'd love to hear any feedback you have about your experience with the site.

First thing I noticed is that you only cover uni's in NSW. Are you planning to roll this out nation wide?

    • Yes, certainly. At the moment I'm focusing on universities in the NSW region. Expansion to other states across Australia is something that will be implemented in the near future.

  • I definitely like your initiative. As I finished high school recently I would know a lot of people who would use this site.

Personally the whole idea of hecs debts blow me away, and was probably the reason I haven't worried about going to uni. I have seen a lot of other students in lower economical situations take on uni this year will be holding a huge debt going into the workplace in the future, but I admire them for their decision. Last year I finished year 12, and almost everyone I knew went to Uni, so I kind of feel like I should have done it as well. I have left school last year and started a career this year earning a reasonable amount for not having a degree. But if it goes pear shaped I will definitely pursue uni next year, and I believe you website will be a huge help.

In regards to the design of the website it functions really well. I believe you will need more functions to be more descriptive when searching for scholarships, but at the moment with a small database of scholarships it isn't a problem, but as you expand you'll need more search functions. Also I think it might be good to have a function where you can submit scholarships, businesses and institutions that offer scholarships can possibly advertise there scholarship on your site. Maybe you could think about advertising your website to the department of education in the areas your serving and they might be able to forward it to all the high schools in the state, or you could source the email address for local high schools and start generating traffic through high school social media pages.

But in the end, I really like your initiative and would be more than happy to offer my assistance in setting up a Melbourne wing of your website.

    • Thank you for your feedback.

I have previously thought about the points you have mentioned and they are definitely something that is planned.
At the moment I'm conversing with a local high school for them to trial it.

Please send me your contact details through a private message as I'd like to get in touch.

  • Are you affiliated with the US app with a similar name, Scholly? Forbes

I remember seeing it on Shark Tank a couple of months ago (one of the best eps this season) and looked very impressive especially in the US where tuition is high and there are vastly more grants available. Best of luck.

    • Thank you.

I have no affiliation with Scholly. I'm a frequent view of Shark Tank and enjoyed their pitch.

Yes the Australian market is much smaller. Although, after experiencing the scholarship search and application process myself in Australia I found it to be difficult.

The main priority of Scholify is to simplify the scholarship process and aid deserving individuals with obtaining tertiary education.
