Calling all Acer ES1-411-C1WD Owners - Fan Noise?

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a slight (but annoying) buzzing sound coming from the fan once the CPU heats up enough for the fan to spin? (The fan also spins for about half a second on start-up too).

I purchased 2 during the recent JB Hi-Fi sale, one was completely silent yet the other had the annoying buzz. Replaced the one with the annoying buzz but the replacement has the same issue. Just want to know if I should replace it again or if this is normal?

Cheers

I bought 2 and neither have this problem, might be worth trying the replacement option yet again. Must have just been unlucky twice :(

  • You could open it up and put a drop of oil on the fan spindle.

  • No loud fan noises. Check your power options to see if you've enabled the cooling fan to be always on.

  • I'm also getting an electronic buzzing noise once the fan reaches a certain speed. It isn't loud but definitely irritating. Not too keen on trying a drop of oil on the spindle as it seems the heatsink/fan assembly would need to be removed. I'm okay with a whooshing noise but not this so I think I'll try my luck exchanging it.

    • I sent it back to Acer but apparently they are still waiting for parts.

  • I just read this and only noticed now my fan has the buzzing noise. I've only had it a few days and it's been very windy so I wouldn't have noticed it because of noise outside. Now it's quiet it's very irritating. I'm returning it to The Good Guys tomorrow.
