Stupid PayPal - Funds Pending for 2 Weeks

I've noticed that on my ebay accounts and linked paypal accounts that some of the payments are marked as "pending"

so I sold a couple of items on ebay under a new ebay seller account 2 weeks ago and posted them by regular post to england. the buyer has left positive feedback already. paypal is holding the funds and required that I provide a) copy of my purchase invoice for the item to prove that it is mine; and b) tracking details. I sent it regular post -small + flat items- hence no tracking item. I don't have an invoice as I bought the items off aliexpress - so I just sent a screen dump of the purchase page.

ridiculous.

my second ebay account and linked paypal account have been open for 5 years and has 250+ pos feedback with no negs. still paypal payments are pending.

my third ebay account and linked paypal account have been open for 9 years and has 670+ pos feedback with no negs. still paypal payments are pending.

it's infuriating. I have $600 of payments just sitting there.

what the hell is going on?

  • Paypal is freezing your funds because you're using a new account. Get used to Paypal treating you like a criminal for making them money, also don't be surprised if they extend the delay with no reason given.

    • hey if it means we are safer online, it's a struggle i'll continue to accept lol. Guilty until proven Innocent is the way to go on here when money is involved

  • they told me its because of a new account, when its not. Then told me they will lift the ridiculous hold. They havnt.

Ring them and and ask them them to clear your money, if you have a tracking number to prove that you have posted what you sold, they should make your funds available straight away as a "one off favour" They have done this for me 3 times now.

  • I've sold a handful of items on eBay, and it always took up to 3 weeks for funds sitting in my Paypal account (pending) to become available. They never asked for any proof of any kind though :/ Sorry OP, can't really help you, but just wanted to say that I thought pending funds weren't an odd thing (in fact they do state that funds may take up to 21 days to be approved).

  • Does eBay allow multiple accounts on the same IP address?

Yes they do. For example, you can have separate buying and selling accounts. What you cannot do is 'shill bid' or bump up your auctions from one account on the other.

  • Make sure to verify your PayPal account as well.

If I withdraw funds from our PayPal account into our ANZ business account they will be in there 5:30PM the next day.

PayPal is freezing your funds so they can have the use of yours (and everyone else's) money for however long they freeze it for. They must have tens of millions frozen at any one time they are earning interest on. Quite smart business really just being the middle man. Just my humble opinion.

  • I thought Paypal improved as I'm getting paid same day. ING here.

  • FYI - You can get eBay to release your funds 4 business days after delivery is confirmed via Australia Post Tracking, or after receiving feedback for the sold item. BUT, you must contact eBay to get their accounts section to manually release it.

    Hope this helps.
