Dick Smith Click and Collect Dead?

It looks like the Smith no longer does click and collect from my very unscientific look at the website now…. Is this the end of the retail stores?!

  • They still have info on 'Click & Collect' here; maybe the website is broken.

This post is dead..long live c&c.

  • click and collect still available through their ebay store at the moment.

  • Interesting. I made a click and collect order just yesterday.

Could just be a website issue? Their web developers are completely hopeless.

Really? Do tell. I think the online experience at DSE is above average compared to a lot of other tech related stores.

        I must agree.

They sent me the wrong item when they had the Samsung 7" tablets out at $99 (thanks lots to the OP for the heads-up on that one), and sent the replacement overnight when I told them.

I was also told to keep the wrong item, so a rellie scored a $30 iPhone case for free.

        • You ordered a Samsung Tablet and they sent you an iPhone case??

        • @GaelicAU: Yep!

        1. Prices will have one price in list/search views, then on the product page or in cart, the price will change to another.
        2. When using click and collect, you can search for stores with stock, select one that has stock, and then when you try to pay, it will say that item is not in stock. This is not a time issue - you can come back hours later and the same thing will happen. Conclusion: it's checking against two separate databases within the same transaction.
        3. They seem to have fixed this now but for more than a year, the postcode chooser would only work if you typed your postcode quickly. If you typed slowly, the autocomplete would break and you couldn't purchase (unless you choose from the autocomplete options, you can't purchase at all, even if the postcode is valid).

That's just the ones that have annoyed me enough for me to submit feedback, for which I've never received a reply.

      • I had to raise, then escalate a Paypal claim to get my money back months after making a Click and Collect purchase because, it turned out the store had no stock and even, admittedly through incompetence, tried to bait and switch an inferior item.

I've had mostly positive experiences with other purchases from them - in the sense nothing went wrong - but the minute it went wrong, it was painful to deal with them.

      • the first time I did C&C, the rep found it was quicker to go pick one up from the shelf rather than sift through a cabinet full of C&C items.

the second time, they spent ages trying to find my item and just could not find it, so had to get a refund, what a waste of time going to the store.

    • Same guys that re jigged woolworths perfectly fine website?

      • Probably, Bloody consultants!

  • Click and collect is still there for me.

Are you using the mobile site perhaps?

  • Tried to buy earphones today, first page said click and collect, buy, no click and collect available .
Bought them on ebay for 1/8th of the price instead

    • Don't drop them!

  • I wouldn't be surprised if they kill off C&C. The stores have never matched the price for the online shop/ebay, they will only go as low as their inventory cost which includes freight to the store.

When you C&C the sale doesn't count for the stores sales numbers so the sales droids are not in love with it either…
