Do you buy your attractions online or when you are at your holiday destination?

Hi,

I was just wondering where everybody buys their holiday attractions from? I will be traveling to Europe in about 6 weeks time and I was wondering whether it was best to buy them now or once I arrive.
Some things I might want to do are:

*Dubai:
Burj Khalifa tower
Waterpark with dolphin swimming
*Venice:
Gondola ride
*Rome:
Vatican
Possible trip to pompeii
*Paris:
Disneyland
Eiffel tower
Louvre
*London:
Big ben
Buckingham palace
Arsenal game
*Munich:
Oktoberfest

This is only some of the things we are thinking about. Any ozbargainer advice is welcome. What websites do you use if you do it online?

Thanks

  • Same question, Different destination. Particularly Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Vegas and Honolulu. And this will be during the Christmas new year period.

Do you buy attractions, shows, go cards or so on online or at the destination?

  • +1

Do buy the Alcatraz online - I think it is about 3 months ahead- they book out quickly for the night tour - which is less crowded and really interesting.

LA and Vegas leave it till you get there - unless you want to do a TV show - this is free with guaranteed celebrity spotting and quite interesting - we saw 50 cent on jimmy Kimmel then walked out into a red carpet event with Jane Fonda getting some award at the Chinese theatre.
When I was last in LA uber had a ride share on which cost $5 a ride - I used that a lot and never had to share.

  • Guys, i need some help. I can't seem to secure tickets for the Eiffel tower from their website. I want to probably go either the 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th of September late at night. There seems to be availability for the 10th, but i'll be in London by then. Do tickets randomly become available again, or do i need to book on another site. If so, what is another good site to book on?

Is someone also able to list websites they use to book attraction? (e.g. viator)

  • Burj Khalifa you need to buy online before you go. Its timed entry and it books out like a month in advance. I know people who wanted to go up to the observation deck but couldn't as all times were booked out. You can book on their website and you can select the time and date you want to enter at - they will then email you the booking slip - which you take with you.

If you're savvy, you'll look up the sunset times for the day you want to go and enter before sunset, so you get a lovely view - but I noticed other people have the same idea - so best to book earliest possible.
