Paypal & DealExtreme Gift Shipping

Hi All,

Great forum.

I am trying to send a friend that is living in Canada an xmas gift direct from DealExtreme, but the paypal checkout will only allow me to add either an Australian, or US addresses. Am I missing something or is this impossible? DealExtreme claims to post Worldwide, so it appears to be my australian paypal account stopping me from doing it. Any ideas?

  • Might be worth a try to log into Paypal and go to Profile > Add or Edit Postal Address

Althought it sets the country as Australia by default, you could perhaps enter something like:

    Gift recipient: Mr Canadian Friend
Address Line 1: 701 Granville Street
    Address Line 2: Vancouver BC
    Town/City: CANADA
    State: leave blank
    Postcode: V6Z2B7

That way any normal person or postal worker or hi-tech postal machine could see that it clearly should go to Canada, even if it has to come to Australia first before they redirect it.

Otherwise try asking paypal or Deal Extreme how you can add a gift address that's overseas.

You don't need to add the Canadian address in PayPal. Just checkout through PayPal as usual using your own shipping address. Once you have paid, go back to DealExtreme and login into your account. On the "order summary" section, click on your order number. Then click on "Update Address" at the top, and update the address to the Canadian destination you want your item posted to.

    Works everytime for me. :)

    • Nice one Pauly - good advice

    • +1 - did this last month

    • thanks pauly, worked a charm =)

  • Speaking of dealextreme and paypal. I tried to buy some stuff from there today but every time I went to checkout with paypal I get the following message:
Your recipient requires instant payments. To pay instantly, simply link a debit or credit card to your PayPal account.
It won't let me continue the checkout unless I link a credit card. Has anyone else been having this problem or is it just me?

    • have you got funds in your paypal account? (i'll assume your using direct deposit over credit card). It probably doesnt like it because it wants to debit the payment straight away.

      • Yeah I have funds in my paypal account.

        • hmmm i'm really not sure then. sorry :(
