Hero Sushi Train Canberra Centre - All Day Sushi Plates $3.50 (Excludes Sashimi) [ACT]

60

Saw this last night and gave it a go for dinner, pretty good value for Canberra sushi. Plenty of sushi available for $3.50 including the usual pricier scallop, salmon and prawn plates. Sashimi plates are still around $7. Menu appears to have undergone a revamp with lots of sushi types I haven't seen previously. Available until 31 August. According to Facebook page, only appears to be for the Canberra sushi train and not their other NSW sushi train locations.

  • that might be because sushi is sushi! and sashimi is sashimi! they are not the same.

$2.50? My local sushi place has the whole roll for $2.50 everyday.

  • They are (well Canberran branch at least) one of the most Korean like Japanese restaurant I've ever been to (and that's saying something since I go Japanese restaurants in Korea as well).

      What does that even mean?

The owner is Korean, half the employees are Koreans (well I am exaggerating a little, but I've seen a lot of Koreans), even the song they were playing were K-Pop. Though that said, I've only been there once during the Valentine's Day event and it was from my observations. Also I didn't pay that much attention to the chefs as well.

I haven't seen any Japanese restaurant in Canberra that is truly owned by Japanese. Either Korean or Chinese

        • @blue_panther9_9: Ditto, I have never seen one with Japanese people. Even my gf says she have only seen a few, and she's grown up in Canberra. That said they were blatantly trying to look like a genuine Japanese owned restaurant.

@blue_panther9_9: I've never seen a McDonalds owned by an American, they're mostly run by Australians.

I thought the $3.50 deal was always there? If you are in the area you should also try CBD Dumpling Place and PappaRich.

    • Thanks for the heads-up about CBD Dumpling House - will check it out tomorrow!

Dumpling house was pricey and didn't taste special. Try avoiding paparich seafood laksa. The taste was standard but their nasi lemak is ok la

  • I tried this and compared to the old menu you used to get 3 rolls on a plate for $4.50 now you get 2 for $3.50, with perhaps a little more dressing on top. Most other portions are smaller too, so the deal is not as good as it sounds.
