most (good/stable) business don't sell at 1 years earnings, the multiples are usually 2-5 years depending on risk.

    • This is true from a 'profit' perspective, but if OP is prepared to work full time and effectively buy themselves a job, there are many options that fall into their budget.
So using gbanger's range, a business selling for $50k should make the owner around $15k p.a. after all business costs, staff costs etc. If you can do the work of a full time staff member, you will get their income, plus the $15k of profit, easily exceeding the $1000 a week desired, even if you only pay yourself around minimum wage.
Finding a business that requires no work and generates $1000 a week is substantially harder!

    at home childcare!
cause you need at 20k tv to entertain the kids
    20k sound system
a 20k computer for the kids to play with
20k car to drive the kids home
    20k kitchen to cook

now to earn enough money to claim the tax!

    • how does this works ? do i need to have any separate place or i can run from my home, and do i need a certificate i feel like need to have it ?

      • you can run it from your home as long as you tick all the boxes (a lot of emphasis is on child safety and child proofing your home)

Mate don't post about Flippa. That is the most fraud company in Australia. Thats a paradise for frauds and the idiots at Flippa Enjoy the commission for the fraud. Dont Even think about buying anything from there. I lost lost of money in there.

What happened? Did the site for sale misrepresent their metrics?

      • +2

I bought Website in there for about $600. which were generating about $100 a month.(You have to write articles on it) I did all the payments and the sites were transferred but later i found that the sites were fraud and that all the information was fake. They did not generate even $10 a month. I tried to contact the guy who sold the sites but he wouldn't respond and Flippa doesn't Care. Its very easy for some one to post anything on Flippa and after getting the money in their bank they disappear. I found out lot of people had a similar experience.

Its a pity that its an Australian Company (based here in Melbourne) and is facilitating the international scammers.

    • thank you danthuluri, i was looking that site for more then 40 mins, thanks for sharing your experience.

If you want your future business to succeed, I think you'd need to work on your research skills first. By research, I don't mean asking random strangers what you should do. If it was that easy, they would've done it themselves. Doesn't sound like you have any experience or knowledge in business either, huge risk for you imo.

    • I know its not thats easy and everyone doesnt take risk, i like to take a risk and jump in and thats correct i dont have experience but i know i can do it :)

      • +1

If you like risks, give me the money. I'll pay you back double if my spin at roulette comes up.

        • may i be i will make roulette and sell it, i dont have to take a risk in that…

There are number of options u have. However, it really depends on u what u want to do?

Based on limited money, you can be a contractor to a company as a courier/delivery person.
You can earn 1500+ per week.

The other option is kebab shop. If u make tasty kebabs you can make good money as each kebab has 150%+ profit.
    Good luck

    • kebab shop how much it takes investment

      • You need a caravan + equipments.
both shouldn't cost you more than 30k.
it depends on the condition of caravan as well.

What skills do you have? it's no good looking into child care if you hate kids or a courier if you don't drive.

  • +1

    Depends on your skill set.
With 50k investment you are asking for 50k+ returns (i.e. 100% return on investment). Seems you are asking for too much. Not impossible, but difficult.

  • Drink Vending machines. For $50000 you could purchase more than 25 new mechanical machines. You would need to do some footwork to place them in appropriate businesses. Check out eBay.

will it return $1000 per week though?

  • Franchise? Such as Jim's mowing, kwikkerb, cleaning.

    • i will keep this option

  • The only businesses would be self employed businesses eg lawn mowing gardening, handyman. You will need more working capital to get into larger businesses.

    • i will keep this option.

  • Uber claims you can make $1000/week driving for them.. if you believe them, invest in a car with that $50k… i hear the new mustang's coming out… I for one would definitely uber a mustang

    • I met with many drivers they dont make enough money after everything like expenses, and i will be loosing money on car too u know,

I knew a friend who ran a fitness center and was a personal trainer, she did it for about 6 years and it was good money and ran successfully. However, that was over 6 years ago when competition in the fitness market wasn't as fierce. She later quit because she couldn't keep going physically and her doctor told her to stop.

I guess the only advice I can give is to consider your health if you're running a biz, some jobs are physically demanding and some types of businesses require a lot of attention 24/7, 365 days a year.

    • points noted, i am growing old lol thats why i like to settle :)

    • +1

That sounds like a load of bullshit. I have never ever heard a doctor say that you shouldn't keep fit. Even if she had a heart attack, exercise is the key.

      • Do you think that there is no age limit to running a fitness business? Hmm, running classes, training sessions all day.
I have some shocking news for what happens as we age…

        • You could go well into your 50s.

        • @thorton82:
Maybe. I know plenty of former athletes who have bad knees or other chronic injuries at an earlier age than that. They still stay fit and do sport, but their ability to run aerobics classes all day is gone.

  • Sandwich shop.. Somewhere where there isn't much competition and with parking just outide and preferably on a main road with lots of passing traffic..

As a tradie, this is the ideal sort of place i like to stop at for lunch/drive home snack.

Also, not everyone likes Subway, so create a USP like plenty of filling or unusual menu items and the crowds will come.

    • interesting will look into it.

Since you have replied to a lot of different ideas, I think what you need is ideas!
Try looking at Gumtree for the less expensive businesses for sale.
Certainly there are take away shops, cafes, mowing businesses etc. regularly for sale in your budget:
    http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-business-for-sale/c18468

Buying an established business is likely to give you income from day one, and potentially a base to grow from.
The risk is that it is hard to grow and the seller did all they could, so you can't make the business better.
