Note. Supercheap prices but seems Cebu Pac flights to HK mostly have either a 12 or 13 hour stopover in manila. FYI ;)

    • yeah looks like it 12 hour stop over at manila - ay curumba lol

    Cebu scares me.

    Cebu, that is why.

Can anyone explain their experience with Cebu?

Reviews online are negative because people wanted to change their flights dates/times but were told no, so an immediate 1 star review was left.

      Mine was… :/

We were left waiting in line at the counter at Manila airport, with no explanation of why we weren't admitted. Us passengers, like 100 of us, waiting patiently, for over 3 hours… with no idea what the heck was going on.

The Cebu Pacific people at the counter didn't know nor could help either.

So it turns out that the 11pm flight was delayed, to 3am. So we've waited in life for 3 hours.

… But they have us a Philippines equivalent to McDonald's happy meal when we got on board the plane.

I don't have much problems with them. I paid $50 for the flight back to Sidney, so I got what I paid for but others paid the full price (non special price) - they were probably mid agitated

yeah expect the worse and when it doesn't and it was all ok, then you'll be happy :)

Cebu experience:- Aircraft cabin and flight were fine. As good as AirAsia. Food was less so. Half hour late departing Syd.

    • +2

Worst experience. Long line at the check in, flight delays, missing connect flights, Manila the worst airport.

    • They're ok. Cheap but super slim seats. If you're unlucky enough to get a seat next to big guy like I did from Manila to Syd it'll be uncomfortable. The guy next to me couldn't fit at all so his arms were in the 2 seats either side of him.

  • Wow thanks, have a friend teaching English in shanghai and want to go see him!

  • Are these flights with the cheaper providers still safe?

There was a documentary about pilots on low-cost airlines are likely to have less experience and lowered job stability.

Also there was apparently some ban in the EU for Cebu Pacific, due to safety issues, which was subsequently lifted… Not exactly inspiring confidence.

    • Miniscule added risk but one that I am prepared to take, especially if the timetable suits me.

Legit question, I'm equally concerned about pilot's level of stress / work conditions in budget airlines.

Everything is safe to a degree and unsafe to a degree. I compare it to my driving absolutely sober, and driving after 1 beer. I know that I have increased my risk of an accident, but I am still safe and still legal to drive.

  • Good price to Shanghai. I previously purchased the connecting return flights myself from Manila to China but you do risk a delayed flight not resulting in "special consideration" being given if you have a missed connection (which surprisingly is something they do - insurance generally won't cover you). They appear to use standard scheduled flights rather than exclusive connections so you'd think it wouldn't be a problem. I paid $272 all up instead of $400.

  • Anyone seen any cheap tickets to Asia post Dec 14?

    • No! Only for America!

    • I just posted a deal with Scoot ($200-$300 off) which goes to some locations in Asia. I haven't looked past December but there could be something there for you. "Scoot Thru" post

  • :( Melbourne?

  • Highly advise against stepping out of Manila airport - either fly to another island in the Philippines or set up camp in the airport if possible.

To fill in time, might I suggest SM Kenko Spa? See http://www.pinoyroadtrip.com/2015/02/ninoy-aquino-internatio… There are also lounges that give access to Diners Club CC holders and Priority Pass members (Free PP membersip including 2 entries with Citibank Signature Rewards CC.) Otherwise there are no 'pay-for-entry' lounges.

  • Hi Rep, when i go to your links here, fights of the price range you mentioned showed up nicely, but when i click 'select flights' to the right of those deals, they all jump up to double the amount of prices here? could you explain. cheers.

    • The first page is a summary page which lists flights found in the last 24 hours. So it is possible for an airfare to sell out for a date and it be still displayed on the summary page if no one has searched that date recently.

The sale is still running though, here is Sydney to Hong Kong for $413
