I love my SMS Backup for my Samsung S5. Hubby has iPhone and was looking for a similar App for him. Looks like it's a typical Apple con again, I dont seem to be able to find one quickly/reliably.
Does anyone know of or use any for your iPhone? Would greatly appreciate if you can share.

I am looking for something that would do exactly, or at least 90% of what "SMS Backup" do. ie save messages and email to me to my nominated email account….
The comment was made after spending hours looking for a similar App in iTunes, google and all that.
I guess the first requirement is to know what SMS Backup would do, and then make a comparison. I did say I "was looking for a similar App for him".

I looked at the SMS backup site but it wasnt clear about emailing sms to you, guess thats probably more obvious if you use it.
For emailing sms's to you you can use Messages if you have a Mac. That way all sms's are sent to your mac, and kept in a log. You can also reply via the Mac rather than use the iPhone. Also any SMS from another iphone user can go via iMessage rather than SMS saving having to pay for the SMS (if your plan charges).
Not exactly the same but can have same effect of being able to log the sms's received. Whereas Imazing extracts the messages stored in the iphone itself, but has to be run manually (It may have auto function but I am not aware of it). iMazing can be run with the iPhone connected by Bluetooth
I have been using SMS Backup for almost two years now and loved it! First with Nexus and now S5.
One feature I love most is it emails me all my SMS and call logs, automatically! I can change the setting and it is so convenient. I have tenants texting me and I just email them back, copying the SMS. Ditto with friends relos and husbby.
From what I see so far, iMessages only works for iPhone to iPhone. As I said before, hubby is the one using the iPhone but now he finds the needs to have SMS emailed to him. I am challenged to the task.
No iMessage works with SMS as well.
It seems to me to provide what you want. That is the same result but just different way.
All my SMS's come thru iMessage as well as via SMS on my phone.
eg The bank sends me a code when I make a transaction, on my phone via SMS that appears on the phone and in iMessage. The bank isnt using an iPhone. I can then copy the code on my Mac and paste into the the web browser and the transaction is made.
Now when a friend sends me a message and they have an Iphone, it goes via Imessaage IF they use iMessage, any reply goes back via iMessage not SMS.
The point is that both iMessages AND SMS's are available on my iPhone AND my Mac almost at the same time.
So I now have the same log on both iPhone and Message, which is both SMS and iMessage
I believe if you backup your phone to your computer or iCloud your SMSs are saved.
