  • why do beers have a bb date? does it affect the taste in any way?

    • From my experience it does slightly. But it really depends how much further it's gone past.

    • Off beer isn't very nice…

But still I've drunk beer well past it's BB date and you'd never know it.

Coopers have a Best After date printed on theirs.

      • Sciencey opinions needed.

While true, Best After Dates (Coopers, Little Creatures) mean the beer keeps fermenting/maturing in the bottle, the others consisting mostly of water do not.

Also, the carbonation dies out. BWS tend to sell their cheap stuff because its flat (do not trust them).

  • i have a vintage Carlton Draft long neck dated 2011

    • Once again, here is SA, Aged Coopers (Sparkling Ale in particular) sells at a premium… Aged Sparking does taste incredibly good!

  • $46.95 per case of 24 delivered from Dan Murphy's with longer BBE date

    • I'm pretty sure delivery is extra. Dan's "delivery only" price is designed for them to price match for the online savvy shoppers without having to change the ticket in store and give away money to non ozbargainers. Delivery is most certainly extra - especially for beer (for which the free shipping codes and offers rarely work). Did you actually manage to place an order, delivered for $46.95?

      • yes I did
        Subtotal

        $46.95
        Estimated delivery chargeFREE

        • How did you manage to get free for delivery?
When I get to estimating the delivery, the choices are "ShipSmart" ($50 annual fee) and the next available option is a $7 charge.
ShipSmart is advertised as Free, but it actually requires a subscription.

        • @mudkipz: first I chose ShipSmart it showed free delivery but during checkout I chose click and collect as I can't wait. You are right the delivery is extra. Just tried another case delivered - they want money :(

        • @meanozbgnr: As soon as I go click and collect, the price jacks back up to regular price :(

Unless you are doing very regular delivery orders from Dan's, Ship Smart subscription isn't going to be very economical either.
