Return 2 Oz via NYC. What Would You Preorder?

Hi

We are flying back via NYC soon. Four days in the big apple for food and shopping (Wife)

I was thinking of preordering a few things (e.g. wiera quality tools) on Amazon to be delivered in NYC. Save postage but think there is tax added.

What would you get?

  • Are you going there before or after 15th? Amazon 20th Anniversary Sale for Prime members are on 15th July.

  • Bummer. I leave that day. Arrrrghh

Interestingly makita 18v skin drills are cheaper on eBay AU

  • +2

With the exchange rate at 6 year lows (and dropping), high NYC state tax, and most stuff manufactured in China anyway, I don't think there is much you could buy that could qualify as bargains.

  • it seems to be that way…

    • Hmmm, yeah, what juicedpixels is saying probably applies to a lot of stuff. That said, I think you'd be able to find bargains on headphones if you look hard enough. I constantly buy headphones from Amazon as the price of the headphones are cheaper there even after counting in everything. That said, most headphones that I'd like to get my hands on, i.e. decent bargains, usually are not available for int. shipping. I am assuming that there is some sort of contract between the manufacturer and the retailers, just guessing from what Massdrop does with some of their headphone deals (shipforwarding).

Also, many good phone chargers (those ones with a lot of ports that charges fast enough), USB cables (reliable ones at reasonable price) can be bought in US and cannot be bought here, (i.e. Anker etc), so that might be something you'd be interested.

Some of the tablets and laptops are cheaper there as well. If you don't mind getting refurbished units, they are often available in US and not in Australia.

microSD cards are cheaper there as well (if you discount the shipping cost).
