Cheapest way to get Qantas Frequent Flyer Points

Hi all,

I am looking to book some flights with Qantas FFP's. Unfortunately I am 1662 points short and this particular flight does not allow me to do points + pay. I have checked top up points and they're expensive at $77.50 for 2000 points. I have at least two months to acquire points so what would you say is the best way possible to get them? Please note I do not own a credit card of any sort.

  • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/201026 ? You need to spend with the card to get the points though.

    • Just note that most of these credit card deals take 2-3 months for points to be deposited in to your account so you should sign up with at least 3 months for points to deposited.

Otherwise, booking flights can get you points. (Especially didn't have enough points to book all your flights with FFP. Jetstar can get you some points but not sure how much.)

I have not tried it, but I believe that it is very easy to transfer points from/to 'family'. Minimum 5000 points. Send an email to friends/family and borrow 5000. When you have built them back up, transfer them back.

If you were after the points + pay option, why wouldn't you pay the $77.50 to get 2000 points?

$77 is very expensive for 2000 points. Given that a oneway ticket from syd—>melb is about 10,000 points + $30. So 10,0000 points is getting you $70 value.

    Qantas Cash Card.

It is very similar to a debit card and can be used instore or online.

You load funds onto it in various ways. Can be used anywhere where Mastercard is accepted.

You can only get 1 point per $2 spent in Australian dollars or 1 point per $1 spent in foreign currency. You will need to spend around $3500 to get the points you need and you will have to spend it by a certain date as points are only credited once a month to the QFF account so you may only get one points sweep during the period where you need to earn the points as mentioned in your post. If you will be paying the qualifying amount in bills and other expenses during your earn period then it may be worth it.

I don't know of any way to get fast guaranteed bonus points.

If you buy wine on a regular basis from Cellarmasters you might get one of their 1000 point general or targeted offers.

If you are a member of Everyday Rewards you might be able to get your points with bonus points offers during that period but this is an unpredictable way as it is hard to get lots of offers in a short period of time. Sometimes there are offers for Everyday Rewards members to join Wooloworths Online which can be from 2000 points to 5000 points but it is hard to predict these offers as well.

  • WANT TO BUY QFF POINTS ANYONE CAN HELP?

  • Has anyone researched the best 'going' price to buy QFF and where to buy/sell them. It looks like ebay has blocked them, and there were a couple of ads on Gumtree but the ads have been 'removed' (BTW they seemed high in price at 50,000 for $750, 100,000 for $1400, 250,000 for $4,000). Also it sounds risky.

  • If somebody is interested in selling about 100,000 Qantas points, please pm :)

    • PM me? :) Can't initiate convos because I'm outside AU atm.

  • Spend $340 online at david jones through the qantas mall. Or one of the other offers. David jones gives most per dollar - 5 points. But I'm not sure how long until points are credited.
