GMS (Grenache&Mourvedre&Syrah) Wine Blend, 94 Points Rated by James Halliday $99 (12) @ Vinomofo

23

Brand new contraband seizure by Mofo Enforcement Agency. Barossa Valley, SA - specific site undisclosed. Shipment of supercharged GMS blend, fully labelled and legally marked. Bound for standard retail market with an RRP of $216 per dozen. MEA operative agent Lawton has revealed that this contraband is highly sought after, with documentation identifying it as a 94 point wine - approved by leading wine authority, Halliday. Unclassified notes suggest that the quality of this latest shipment is A-grade. Robust and lively, notes of lush black fruit, blood plum and juicy raspberry dominate the palate alongside savoury dried herbs, sweet clove-like spice and liquorice. Due to security concerns, this is only available for 24 hours or until sold out. It is advised that this is an isolated incident.

      edited title
Wine deal, GSM = Grenache - Mourvedre - Syrah blend

      • Its actually GMS not GSM

  • +2

ah well, we all know the deal…the name of the wine is what is not known.

    • +1

Agree! We all get the emails…

The GSM blend is also used widely in Australia, where Syrah is known as Shiraz and often makes up the bulk of the wine.

Food matches for Grenache – Syrah – Mourvedre wines include:

      Steak with bone marrow
Braised lamb shoulder with roasted parsnips
      Cumin and garlic beef strips

Should be the 2013 Schild Estate GMS

  • Almost no one calls their wine GMS, so this is an easy search. I'm betting it's the Schild GMS. It's a producer the Fo has sold many times before and the price matches, but the alcohol % is 14.5% vs 14%.

    Jabba100 has it.

I'm close to negging this post (not the 'deal' per se), and here's why - because any person can cut and paste an email of a deal. With vinomofo deals where the brand of the item is not disclosed, if you don't tell us the brand (or at least suggest) then you're not adding ANYTHING to what we know. And yet, you throw your referral code up so you can profit, as though you've done us a great favour!

Until you give an insight into what the wine is, you're selling us a cleanskin. And an expensive one at that. VALUE ADD, PEOPLE! /rant

Agreed. Too many copy and paste posts coming up that wait for others to identify the wine.

  • +2

..but the advantage of someone posting this deal is that hopefully someone in the comments identifies exactly what it is which helps us all. I haven't found another good forum to get this info (does anyone know a forum that talks about Vinomofo deals ?)

  • Just because we all may receive emails from Vinomofo doesn't mean we know about the deal in a timely fashion if i didnt see this post i probably wouldn't have checked my emails until tonight then of which i would have already stopped at dan murphys on the way home to restock the red wine . instead i have ordered a much better deal than you would find in a shop:)

How about you are not allowed to spruik your own referral code unless you have ID'd the wine yourself.

  • +6

I'm negging this because it is just advertising without knowing what the wine is.
The referral system incentivises these advertising posts, but they aren't a deal unless we know what the product is.
(for the record, I came here to see what the wine was, and would have + the deal if it had been listed).
I would rather see mystery wine posts with referrals be posted by somebody who has worked out what the wine is, rather than the fastest copy & paster.

I'm also negging this for the following reasons:
    1) There is no value in this deal without knowing what the wine is - the OP (who has a total of three posts, all of which are VM deals) has provided us with 'Just Another Lazy Vinomofo Post'
    2) There are dozens of offers similar to this posted on Vinomofo every week. There are thousands of James Halliday rates 94 point reds out there (JH score creep is an issue in itself). What's special about this one?
    3) If it is indeed the Schild Estate, I am negging it based on their known history offering dodgy wine - I don't trust their product (google 'Schild Estate bait and switch' and you will see what I mean)

IMHO, the OP is not helping his fellow Vinomofo referral chasers with this deal - the OzBargain community is getting less and less tolerant, with good reason.

That Schild thing is scandalous. In summary, one vintage won a prestigious award in the US. They shipped all the wine to that market, then made 5000 cases of a new wine with grapes from other vineyards and released it here with an identical label.
That is pretty much fraud in my book.

All you neggers here, how come none of you latched on to the previous vinomofo deal (sadly now expired) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/202939 from 15/7/15 - all the OP gave us here was information about free shipping, whilst soliciting a referral.

Currently that one has 6 upvotes and not a single down.

Just as bad as this one, surely, just a cut and paste from a marketing email?

Please don't hesitate to use my referral code should you decide to purchase from these guys - it's in the system.

        • +3

Free shipping makes their known wines less expensive to buy. And free shipping at retailers that usually charge it is a useful minor bargain.
I don't object to referrals, and once got $25 at this shop from the auto referral system.
The objection is that posting an unknown wine at the regular price it is offered at on vino mofo is not a bargain, and the post is motivated by the hope to get referrals.
