Fxhome is offering the latest version of Hitfilm express free. Available for Windows and Mac, and one ozbargainer reported last time that it also runs under linux/wine.
Note I had to disable Adblock Plus in order to see the download buttons. It will ask you to share the deal, but you can just click the facebook button and close the popup window without sharing it and still progress.
