  • An ezi cook does the same thing at half the cost plus more FYI, I owned both for a year and sold the air fryer as it wasnt as handy or doing as good a job!
Convection air circulation has been around since the 80's just in prettier housings

    • I suspect that the ezi cook will consume more energy.

      • Never checked, but i'd pay more for better food…
        You could be right

    • I have never used one, but heard that the EasyCook style convection ovens takes a long time to heat up, but the air fryer I have only takes 3 minutes to get up to temperature. Can anybody confirm this?

I've had a small air fryer like this which I bought for $65 and it's been FANTASTIC, use it for nearly every hot meal now. Nuggets, chips, burgers, sausages, steak, grilled tomatoes, all go well in it. Very crispy if you like that sort of thing. I even did an entire (small) chicken in it and it tasted wonderful.

I'm a big fan of the air fryers, and considering this is a 3.2 litre instead of the usual 2.2L, $89 seems like a good price. Kogan 3.5L ones are selling for about $125 (a bit cheaper on their eBay page) and their 2.2L are about $60:

    • ezi cook does the same thing at half the cost

      linky ?
I could only find this that is over twice the price

  • Nice deal !

it was on groupon for $99 too..looks like airfryer is getting really common…sometimes little overrated

  • +6

It says "$89 RRP $329" to imply a huge saving, but these air-fryer things regularly sell for $60-$70. There's no significant difference in quality between the various brands. In fact, this one looks exactly like a $70 model that was selling just a few months ago.

So the question isn't "is $89 RRP $329 a bargain" but rather "is $89 a bargain". I'd have to say no.

Exactly why this forum post was started. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/203318

Agree, this is not a deal. Overpriced, if anything

      • +1

The question is can you find it cheaper? Keep in mind this is 3.2lt not 2.2. I was in the market for an air fryer and was thinking about tifal or Philips which cost over $200 so this Kitchen Chef sounds like a good deal to me considering the size and most of them do the same job :)

Well you may as well neg every post on OB, of course the RRP is bs, product goes from manufacturer to distributor 30-40%+ up then distributor to retailer 100%+ up, end of the day comes down to is the sale price worth buying, at $89 including postage not a bad deal, plenty of other brands retailing $200-$400+

        • +2

RRP is NOT bs! I always use it to justify my OZB impulse buys to my wife… and it always works! LOL

      • +1

@PBG can you find a 3.2L for $89 or less? I can't. Plenty of 2.2L versions going for the $65 mark but not 3.2L. I don't think your neg is worthy simply because you have a problem with quoting the RRP, which isn't even against the rules.

      • I hate bringing guidelines on these things, but if you dislike RRP, you should choose to not vote, not neg it.
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

If you can prove that this is not a bargain by showing cheaper price elsewhere, then the story is completely different.

        • Fair enough. My neg removed as not a valid reason for neg.

I do agree with Diji1 that there is no point putting RRP in the deal post as though that is the "saving" when its not

  • We've got the Phillips one and use it daily! A lot more expensive though, probably does the same thing ?

  • can this fry icecream.

    • No, you need an actual oil fryer for that.

What a piece of crap if they were such great ideas they would be in commercial kitchens I can tell you all never seen one there might be a reason for that!

    • -1

What makes you think they not in use commercially. There are definitely commercial versions available designed for much greater volumes. Tip Google: commercial air fryer

      • -2

Because you don't get the same results. How many commercial kitchens have you seen them installed in? I have worked in about 20 Kitchens from small restaurants thru big resorts and have never seen them installed.

        • -1

Well its pretty obvious you don't get the same results. One is an oil fryer that uses… Well oil. But for heating packaged foods like chips, wings, nuggets, basically anything that goes in a fryer it give more than acceptable results. As for use in commercial kitchens watch this space. There was a time when even the humble microwave wasn't seen in commercial kitchens now theyre everywhere. I don't expect to see commercial air fryers in higher end places but would definately expect them in takeaways, cafes, school tuck shops etc. Commercial units are only just coming into the market so up take will be there but take a while. Ie why would an existing kitchen buy one when they have a fryer that is already there, in use and amortised.

  • Sold out

  • Bought earlier. Have been waiting for an XL one to appear since I missed out last year on the Avancer XL. Our regular size one gets used almost daily. The XL will he great as most times we end up making two batches in the reg size one.
