Best Pay-as-You-Go Sim-Only Plan

G'day mates

I don't regularly make phone calls and I have unlimited access to internet at home/work. So, 500MB/month of data works for me.
So I guess prepaid plan is the best for my case.

The best I found:
Amaysim As-you-go plan (90 days credit validity)+ 10GB data pack for $99.90 (365 days expiry)
https://www.amaysim.com.au/mobile-plans/amaysim-as-you-go

An alternative:
Vaya Power Plan (V3) $18 per month

Any comment?
This discussion might be helpful for you if you are in the same boat. But, any other suggestions?

LycaMobile… $5 FOR 500MB and $10 Prepaid for 30 days. I use that and my phone bill is never more than $15 a month.

Think the plan I have is better but for some reason they're not even taking new customers for over a year now.

$9 per month including 1GB and you can make 20 free untimed calls each month…

    • shit, the rates are quite competitive…

I was on a cap plan but now use Amaysim PAYG + 365 day data pack and that suits me well.

    • I make maybe 2-3 phone calls a month + 5-6 SMS messages in the occasions where recipients aren't on Google Hangout, Facebook or WeChat.
    • Most months I use ~300MB, but during holidays (June/July, December/January) I might use more than 1GB/month as I take family out on holidays.

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GO ON HOLIDAY SCOTTY!

      • Which is why I use more data during school holidays — tethering with laptop to fix things up here.

    • Thanks Scotty for your experience
I just got this from their website: AS YOU GO customers will be charged at the casual rate of 7.2c/MB when they tether

I guess this is for data-plan only, am I right? Or you are also charged if make hotspot?

If you have data plan attached to your PAYG, it would take the data allowance from the data plan first. Only after it exhausted all the data from your data plan would it deduct money from your prepaid account.

        • Very true I was caught off guard with this and was wondering why I didn't have payg balance left to make a phone call each month.

  • This sounds like something I would use. I want to switch out of my plan. I'm currently with Vodafone and at my workplace I get poor reception. I had $700 of calls and 1.5 gb data per month. I always almost use up the data each month.
I barely make calls per month ($100 if I'm going hard-out).

Amaysim is using the optus network right?

Anybody from Melbourne find connectivity with Optus stable? Or many black a pots?

I was thinking either optus or Telstra companies such as Amaysim or Boost.

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers!
