[Question] Dent Removal for BMW X5 Plastic Bumper

Dear Ozbargainers,

Hi I have just gotten into problem which is hitting someone's car on the bumper in the red lights. I did not put my handbrakes on and somehow my car moved forward. T___T

I have asked around for quote and its around 200 or sometimes 500 -_- in WA.

Do you guys know where can I get it repaired for cheap but will not leave any more damage to the car?? Especially, in Perth?

Thank You Guys

    a) A dent - jeez. I cant beleive someone would ask for that to be repaired. Its tiny.
    b) What part of your car hit it? It looks more like something very narrow made the mark, not the flat rounded form of another bumper. It looks more like a nick than anything else.

    • a) apparently its plastic bumper so its a bit expensive to repair ><

      b) i m pretty sure it got hit by my plate number.

If you drove an expensive car and it wasn't perfect, wouldn't you want it fixed up?

      • If it was my car and for a nick of that size, no I wouldn't.

X5 has been around since 2000. Nothing to say that the car is 'expensive'

        • Well the car I'm driving is worth about $2000. So it's expensive for me.

It's easier to sell car with this sort of damage, hardly repairable.

  • That will buff out 😃

  • i think it hit my plate number, but yes the guy still wants it to be repaired. I have no choice as im a responsible guy :P

$200 sounds reasonable I think. Just cope out $200 and get it over with :)

    • This is the guy that I might be in contact with.

do you think he is good?

While others are charging me 500… How can it be so different?

      thanks

      • even $500 isn't that unreasonable. I can't tell you if he's any good.

Can you see any review of his service online ?

  • Lets be honest, you were loading your Kenwood cooking chefs into your car and knicked it, but didnt want to tell us so soon to avoid embarrassment.

  • That ding is hilariously tiny.

Shame it costs so much to get something so minor fixed up >_< Cars these days, mang.

    Use your breaks next time.

      Brakes even

  • Wow… Seriously? That's not a huge dint for a car plagued with many other issues that would stop it from being resold easily…

In any case the excess for a claim would be higher than $500 so just pay the $500 and don't skimp out otherwise it might still cost you the excess if the person is this up tight about a small nick they probably won't be happy unless it's invisible close up.

    Good luck. :)

  • Take the 200 quote. Let the other driver know that you will be getting that repairer and ask them do they agree. If they agree then the job gets done. If there any complaints after that you tell the other driver to deal with the repairer.
Get the agreement by exchange of email so that its in writing.
    This way you are covered.
Btw, 200 is a good price, I had the Touchup Guys here in Brisbane do a small job and it cost 250.
