Overseas Postage - Vietnam

Hi ozbargain community ,

I am looking to post my friend who is now in Vietnam some of his favourite Australian products. Are there any cheaper postage cost or carriers I can use to send my package? (auspost is charging $20 for 500g registered and airmail is around $13 - can i trust airmail with my items? )
Also is there anywhere i can get a great deal on packaging like boxes and envelopes?

Any advice would be great.

    If it helps, I have used standard airmail via Auspost to Indonesia and whilst it takes longer than it says on their website to arrive, everything I have sent has always arrived in one piece. They quote 10-14 days but in reality it takes about 3 weeks.

    edit: Skippypost have a $9 shipment fee, which covers up to 32 parcels, so by the time you add the postage on it might work out about the same as auspost if you're only sending 1 parcel :(

      3 weeks matches 14 business days. Most shipping quotes imply business days only.

    I don't send much out so I just get packaging from Officeworks - decently cheap and very convenient.

    Dunno about cheaper couriers though. If you were sending to China there's some really cheap services available at some news agencies but I don't know if they do Vietnam.
