What to use Qantas FF points for?

Hi, I've got about 75,000 points on my Qantas account and they're going to expire end of August. There is no chance of flying any time soon to extend the expiry.

Browsed through the Qantas store and it looks that gift cards are of best value? David Jones could get me around $525 of gift cards.

Is this the best way to go?

Qantas points don't expire if you continue to earn any points. Qantas search is a browser add on that gives you a point for each search you perform. Install this and keep your points.

Your status credits expire but these aren't redeemable anyway.

    • "Qantas search is a browser add on that gives you a point for each search…"

Far out juiced, that's a really hot tip! Wonder why I've never heard of this before?!?

Anyways, for those interested here's a link to download it via:

      https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/partners/toolbar

It can evidently be tacked on to Chrome, Explorer or Firefox, you have to search via "Bing", and you can get a point for a maximum of 150 searches every month. I suppose the best idea is to add it to one of those three browsers that you don't usually use as your browser, so as not to slow it down/crowd it out with an additional tool-bar. Then just use the one you've installed it within to do some searches every month.

      Excellent tip juiced, cheers :)

  • So my understanding is to stop them from expiring, you just need to post some more points to your account.

Easiest way to do this is via Woolworths everyday rewards where spending $31 would get you 1 Qantas point.

That should be enough to keep you points going.

  • You could also open a savings account with Qantas credit union and they will give you points and a competitive interest rate just to have some money in the account, I think it works out to be about 33 points per $1000 per month.
