Visiting Queenstown next week and need to buy NZ$. Any suggestions on where I can get best rates. I live near Blacktown, Sydney and planning to buy around N$1000-1500. Or should I exchange money in Queenstown?

Shame you didn't have the wherewithal to get a Citibank Plus account (unless you already have one) - if you do, just withdraw the $1000NZD as soon as you hit the tarmac in NZ - you won't get any better rate from a brick and mortar money exchanger
when ive travelled to nz, I have withdrawn from commonwealth bank card in any ASB ATM, it costs $2 per withdrawl limit of $2000, they will automatically adjust according to the exchange rate.
Commonwealth Bank is pretty expensive mate. They offering pretty bad conversion rate ($1.0558 against current rate $1.1092). Plus $2 per withdrawal.
I went to this money exchange in Auburn to get my US Dollars late last year and got a very competitive exchange rate that was only about 2 cents below the actual reported exchange rate.
They're currently offering: 1 (AUD) = 1.0922 (NZD), which is very competitive, as the AUD/NZD close for 23 July was 1.11212.
