Microsoft is working on its own Android launcher, currently dubbed Arrow Launcher Beta. As the name reveals, this is an early version of the product, and you can only get access to it by signing up for an invite to the testing program. So how does it work? The Arrow Launcher is sleek and straightforward, offering a quick view of three main pages: People, Apps and Notes & Reminders. Those pages, according to Microsoft News, can't be removed or have others added to them — likely to keep things concise. You can give it a try by downloading the APK, but you'll need to request a proper invite to receive updates after the install.

  • Tried this couple of days back and its not as good as Nova/Action for me.

  • Icons look pretty nice, though I like the standard launchers on my respective phones (AOSP for spare and Sony's on my main).

Wonder if someone will port the icons so I can change it on my spare phone…

  • I don't really see why this is any better than any other launcher.

I am assuming that they'd bring Cortana onto this at one point; I think there was a leak on development version of Cortana on Android.

I wish there is a PA app on android that is voiced by GLaDOS… that would be amazing, also needs to have a similar personality too lol.

That'd be cool, that'd require a lot of work though. :)

Though, Cortana was actually kinda gimmicky imo, just like Siri, S-Voice, yaddi yaddi yadda.

        • @AznMitch: Yeah all gimmick, but would be handy in some situations. I personally can't stand the android voice control though…

        • @ProjectZero: Even with Cortana, only thing I've used it for was when I wanted to take a nap and couldn't be bothered to click the Alarm app to set the time. Perhaps I am not the one who'd benefit from the virtual assistant technology :P

        • @AznMitch: I've tried to use the google now and S-voice for hands free operation… that didn't turn out so well

          Me: Call mother

Google now: Calling [insert random name here]

          Me: The F***…

Moral of the story… it sucked so bad. Don't think the android PA system have things like checking the calendar for you though… that function would be great if it has auto routing to destination from calendar via voice control

        • @ProjectZero: That reminds me what I've done,

"Call my bitch", that was what I've had for my gf. With her consent, of course, as a joke.

Cortana never made any mistakes,I think it knew what I was talking about.

        • @AznMitch: lol… i can imagine an electronic voice saying "Calling my bitch"

        • @ProjectZero: unfortunately, Cortana always said the name (though I pissed my gf off a little by making it say her full name).

        • @AznMitch: Oh, thought you meant you put her down as "my bitch"… didn't know you can setup nicknames for contacts for voice dial for cortana?

        • @ProjectZero: You could set up 5, I think. Though it might've because she was in my "Inner Circle" or whatever it exactly was. I would never put my gf as something as demeaning as that as her name.

  • Tried this, seem works for me though. I usually download files from CHplay, apknite, apkpure. This launcher is useful and run nicely too, luckily that not any apps crash yet..
