Is Baumr-AG Lawnmower Any Good?

I am looking to replace our old lawnmower.

Saw this one on eBay.

Anyone has any idea if the Baumr-AG range is any good?

Thanks

Don't do it. I bought it a year ago and it wasn't powerful enough. Recently the starter cod came off. I got to fix it.

  • You have to be wary if the parts, filters, blades are easilly available. I have a Masport, which I can find most common items at Bunnings or SCA(blades, plugs, filters). Otherwise, I can pick up obscure spare parts from a lawn mower repair agent.

Also, I had a GMC mower which would block all the time, as it only had a small exit for the grass to enter the catcher.

  • I'll be in the market for a lawn mower next month as I move out of inner city apartment living and into surburban with backyard and nature strip…

Will be watching this post for ideas…. Looking at utilising the Master 10% off if anyone can make recommendations based on there line of stock

    • I picked up one of these recently. Only used it once so cant comment on long-term. Rover brand is a good one.

      $359 less 10% = $323.10
      Pay with discounted gift cards - 5% = $306.95

    • you cannot go wrong with Victa. Got mine on Gumtree a few years back and has not missed a beat since.

some rich chick bought one for her husband and he decided after a few weeks that he could not mow the lawns anymore so she flogged it off for less then half the prices at Bunnings.

  • $250 dollar 'Gardeners Choice' lawnmower from K-Mart. Comes with a 2 year warranty. If you have a platinum credit card, you will get another 1YR added to the already existing warranty. They are a good mower, I purchased 2 recently, one for my sister and one for me.

Thanks for that. Looks like I have to physically go to the store to take a look. K-Mart's website do not show what models are available.

  • Meh, just another in the long list of china shit garden tools. Take a chance if you want, it might last for 20 years or it might break after a week.

  • KEEP AWAY, DON'T BUY IT.
Dreadful quality, my worst purchase ever!

  • The company was started by Aussie. Buying Chinese stuff and slapping a German sounding name on the box.
For best go Honda but $$$$

Thanks guys. I am going to check out the K-Mart range this weekend.

  • Avoid if you want to save your money. It's a dog. Hard to start and no power if you do get it started. The automatic throttle doesn't work so it can't handle grass which is more than a few mm long. Had my last mower 20 years. this hasn't lasted 20 weeks.

My block is very steep and very big and most of it needs mowing. I've blown up 2 victas and a Briggs and Stratton in the 3 years I have been here so I brought a Baumr-ag 750sx for $250. The grass was over 3 feet high so I propped open the side and back vents (VERY DANGEROUS) and went for it! … This mower loved it!! My wife loves it because it's super easy to start, is light weight, handle is height adjustable and it drives itself up our steep block. Can't comment on long-term durability (only had it 3 weeks) but as for overall performance it easily devoured the biggest mowing job I ever had so I would recommend this mower to anyone who needs a mower with the grunt to handle big jobs! Feel free to ask any questions you have about it.

      • What's that supposed to mean (nice try)
If I could post pics on here I would prove what I say. The lawn took me longer than 6 hours over 3 days and the blades still look new.
Most comments on here are from ppl who don't even own one of these mowers and are just bagging where they're made or who is selling them so I decided to post honest comments from my own experience.
Not sure how long this mower will last or how I go for parts but so far I've worked it harder than any mower I've owned and it came through with flying colours!
Take it or leave it. :o)

        • I have a different model Baumr-AG Tornado 650EX 16" 4-Stroke 5HP Lawn Mower - Lawnmower Push. I paid 177.65$ back in Sep 2014 but it didn't last long.

        • @azm:
Ok this one is 165cc not sure of hp and it's self-propelled 18" deck. See my profile pic of when I finally finished, believe me it was an epic job! Haha
What happened to yours if you don't mind me asking?
I want to take care of this one coz it's the best I've used. I won't let the gras get that high again so it doesn't have to work so hard and wash and hit with WD40 after every use.. hope I can keep it for awhile.
