In-Car GPS unit

Hi
I want to buy an In-Car GPS unit as a xmas present max budget $250 it is for my parents so relatively simple and I think at least 4” I was looking at maybe tom tom XL340 but I don’t really know what is good or what to ask for as I have never used one.
Prefer from an actual store but if it is a huge saving will buy online
Any suggestions would be great.

  • I got a Navman MY50T from Dick Smith for $258 with a free carry case thrown in.

It's a 4.7" LCD and comes with 3 years free maps.

I've only had it a week but pretty happy so far - it does the job.

I recommend you goto Dick Smith and tell them $258 with the Navman case - they'll do it at George St, Sydney.

  • I owned a Garmin 265W and liked it (esp the ability to transfer Google map searches from my computer directly to it).

Harvey Norman currently have this on their end of year catalog for $235.

    There's a cheaper 265 version, but I prefer the 4.6" wide screen 265W version.

I also bought the Garmin 1390T recently. It is slimmer, also wide screen with lane assist feature but slightly more expensive.

  • Btw, Officeworks have 5% price match policy, so you may be able to get this cheaper by bringing the HN catalogue to the store :-).
