Can We Make a List of Cheap Lunches from Fast Food Joints?

I just want something cheap to eat for lunch and fast food places are a tad too expensive these days. Usually I'll know about a few cheap eats but I might not feel like a certain thing. So can we make a list of cheap lunches from fast food joints? I don't mind coupon based deals but they don't usually cater to just one person, I always see them as BOGOF or a double meal. Best I can think of are:

Hungry Jacks: Stunner Deals (forgot price)
$4.45 Small Chicken Royale Meal (coupon)
Red Rooster: $5 Quarter Chicken and chips (11AM-4PM)
KFC: $6.95 Streetwise meal
$5 Snack Box and drink (not every store?)
$6.95 Burger Combo Deluxe (on the Xpress App)
Oporto: $5 Rappsnacker meal (I think this is no more?)
McDonalds: $4.95 Happy Meal
Pizza Hut: $4.95 Classic Large Pizzas Pickup (5 Options: Pepperoni Feast, Aussie BBQ Beef, Loaded Ham, Big Cheese, Margheritaville)

It's especially annoying that Mcdonald's doesn't really have anything cheap that actually fills me up. Does anyone have anything else to add? And there are also some not so much fast food places:

Hog's Breath: $9.90 lunches
Rashay's: $10 lunches (Mon-Fri only, 10:30AM-3:30PM)

One of my regular lunches… :)

Pizza Hut Classic Large Pizzas: $4.95 Pickup (5 Options: Pepperoni Feast, Aussie BBQ Beef, Loaded Ham, Big Cheese, Margheritaville)

    • Nice, will add

  • $2 chicken and Mayo at McDonald's

I usually grab the double combo from kfc, 2 burgers (twister, original or zinger), 2 chips, and 2 drinks for $11

I usually do the the same, but 1 Potao & gravy, 1 chips. Last week the attendent gave me 2 of each. :-)

  • Hunter connection, wynyard Sydney cbd.$6-7.5 for two choices meals.

If anyone is near the Spring St end of Collins St in Melbourne then Roosevelt does a freshly made, quite large, salad sandwich for under $7; if you want to add a largish serve of chicken as well it is still roughly $10. These are filling and much healthier than the fast food options. You might be saving on food costs now, but I see a mountain of health care costs in your future.

  • If you have the Student Edge card, you can get a free Medium drink for purchases over $3. I've been using that for years with little to no hitches (only when it's used with stuff from the Dollar Menu). Makes the Happy Meal an even happier meal.

For KFC, if you show them a receipt with a 5-digit code written down (from their survey), you can get a small drink and chips for free with purchases over $4.95. Best to keep the receipt every time you buy food there. Mate and I got the double burger meal, plus the survey bonus for $10.95. It included 3 drinks, 3 small chips and 2 burgers and it's so worth it.

Fast food is often overpriced for what you get.
I reckon its hard to beat a Banh Mi for $4.50. Or Strattons Pub in Sydney CBD has $5 steaks (must buy a drink).

    • Strattons Pub in Sydney CBD has $5 steaks (must buy a drink).

Didn't know about this one, thanks! Looking at their website now, it appears that the $5 steak is offered daily rather than on just one particular day (like most other pubs with their cheap steak nights).. is that right?

I think it is every day. They stick you with extras for sauce or gravy, but the steaks are pretty good and the chips are excellent.
I haven't been for a while and now I am thinking I might have to go soon.

Forget all that junk food. I have been buying my lunch from Woolworths. Nice salad in a box with cutlery, dressing and pieces of cheese only cost me $2 (orange sticker markdown) and was very tasty. Another great bargain is the teriyaki salmon/chicken with brown rice and salad which is $4 on markdown. These items seem to be constantly marked down and the use by date is usually the next day but they are still very fresh.

My lunch for a whole week is under $15. Goto fresh fruit and veg place. Baby spinach, tomatoes, parmisen cheese, balsamic vinegar. Then goto coles or woolies and buy either cans of tuna or chicken whatever is on special. Very filling and on the healthy side. Every Sunday I do that shop. Maybe buy a slab of soft drink and take a can a day to work. Can't go wrong 👍

  • In Melbourne:
Washoku @ 16 Celestial Lane does a $6.50 lunch, healthy and fills you up.
New Kum Den has plenty of dishes for $8.80 (plain rice)…the Kung Po chicken is pretty good and you also get chicken/corn soup and tea at no extra cost.

  • FYI, if you want to create a community updatable resource for cheap food, it's best to use the wiki like others have done for the birthday deals.

  • Great thread. Subways basic foot long subs such as ham, turkey, meatballs etc at $7.95 are good value.

Also second hunter connection at Wynyard sydney.

    Any other Sydney CBD suggestions??

  • Sorry haven't been here in a while, would add those Sydney CBD places but can't edit anymore. Might make a wiki page like neil suggested

  • Hungry Jacks Whopper Jnr Stunner is $5.25… its ok value but its limited time.

The regular stunners arent as good.

Also you can put the dominos $5 value pizza.

Just get a pepperoni and eat the lot (you fat pig)

wash it down with tap water
