SYD - LAX same fares but includes VA code on DL for $366 which prices same as UA.Can even route through SFO on UA and drop the last leg into LAX if you HLO :P

What are the advantages of buying one way tickets? Unless you're never coming back, why wouldnt you get return?
Well If ur planning to fly around the world would be a big reason why someone would buy a one way ticket.
You also need to be careful with one way ticket on a tourist visa.
If you cant demonstrate that you plan to leave USA at some stage in the near future (ie with either forwarding flights to Canada or elsewhere) then you could be refused entry.
Just dont plan on rocking up to customs without a ticket outbound!
