Buy now before the aussie dollar drops further

Hi Guys,

Just looking for some quick advice.

Should I start buying the parts now for my gaming PC or wait?

Will the Australian dollar dropping increase the price in the future so better to buy now?

Cheers

    Probably isn't going to matter.
The dollar wont drop any more than 10% from its current levels over the coming year, more likely no more than 5% and day to day variation could be in the range of 1-2%.

Definitely worth keeping your eyes peeled for a bargain (ie another ebay 20% off deal), but if you're not going to build for another 3 months, I'd say wait, cause component prices are likely to decline as newer models are released or release dates approach. As a result, even if the dollar "plummets" 10% overnight, you're likely to be able to buy at roughly the same overall price in the future.

I'm planning to upgrade for Fallout 4 and started picking up parts with prices I think won't get much cheaper over the next 3 months (esp if picked up via OzB). So far I've got the Crucial RAM from Amazon and the Crucial 250Gb SSD from Shopping Express.

Planning to pick up mobo, cpu and gfx card in late Oct

  • My 2 cents.

Depending on your budget, try to get hardware that can handle Oculus Rift.

  • If you plan to do it buy all the stuff at once or within a week or so.
If you plan to buy some of the stuff now but want to wait another couple months to buy the rest you may as well just hold off buying anything yet because of price dropping.

  • Thanks all for the advice.
