Rockband Pack (Wii/PS3/XBOX360) for $49 with Game at Kmart (Starts Boxing Day)

310

I know this is not an available deal yet until 26th Dec but just in case someone is about to get one (Like me who just bought a set for $88 at EB Games), you might want to hold off for another 3 days.

As described on the K-mart catalogue:

$49/pk. Rockband Pack. Must be in the same transaction. Sorry, no rainchecks.
Purchase a Rockband Guitar & Drumkit plus either Rockband AC/DC or Rockband Original Track Pack.
Available on PS2/PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Must be in the same transaction.

No point checking the website as they still have the old catalogue on it.

This is much cheaper as it includes AC/DC or Rockband Original Track Pack

        Do your Maths:
        Guitar=$10
        drums= $10
        Game= $20
        Total= $40

        • You forgot microphone.

          • @2023: There is no microphone in the kmart deal

Hope they have some stock of this and its not a clearance item.

I too bought it from EB and am now realizing that their price was not so "wacky" :D

      cheers for the pic

i hate how the wii version isn't compatible with GH games but the xbox/ps3/2 ones are

    • Thanks Crownie for scanning this! I just wish I could had hold myself to my office chair last Wednesday and saved myself $88. Now I feel like whacking myself in the head!

      • Can you read? He clearly said he didn't scan it.

    • It's a discontinued line, so stock will definitely vary from store to store. However, having seen first-hand how abysmal sales were of rock band (in comparison to GH, and even Band Hero more recently), I'd say you'll find at least a few at every store.

      • and from the pic these are RB1 instruments not RB2 right? but then again it probably varies with each store

        • RB1. I don't know of any retailers that stocked RB2 after the first crashed and burned.

          • @pais: what is the difference between RB1 and RB2 instruments anyway?

            • @CVonC: Quality.

            • @CVonC: RB1 drumsets were plagued with issues from what I can gather; the main problem just being that they were of crap build quality. RB2 supposedly rectify this.

Can't really find much — but apparently RB2 will be coming to Aus first quarter next year.

              • @pais: Yeah RB1 drumset has a weak bass pedal. The guitar is your typical GH/RB guitar. If you want RB2 instruments, the closest you'll get (besides RB2 release) is getting The Beatles Rock Band complete kit. I have that and the drumset is far superior to the RB1 drumset. The bass pedal is reinforced with metal so it won't snap as easily as its RB1 counterpart.

    • Nevermind.

The link is thanks to 'rangitamoe' on Whirlpool. I didn't scan it.

  • Would it be possible to layby the Rockband pack now, and then cancel and buy outright on the 26th? Might save missing out when the swarms of people storm Kmart on opening.

  • As far as I know it isn't clearance stock that varies from store to store, there was a shipment of these packs specially for the sale. Also staff members strictly aren't allowed to put any on hold for themselves so it will be a bit of a rush when the store opens in the morning.

    • That'd be from their own distro center, not from the buyer.

  • How much is the game that you must purchase to get this deal?

  • Yes, I have been puzzled by the wording of this ad too. To me it reads that it is $49 for drums and guitar IF you purchase a game (ACDC or ROCK BAND at extra cost) at the same time. Weird they haven't put the cost of the games up as well.

  • well it says plus and it only lists one price so it should be 49 for both….

  • Will they be on sale at 12.01AM on boxing day?

    • Name one shop that opens at that time.

      • Kmart Burwood in Vic - open 24 hours a day right through Christmas.

I think they are saying you must get the instrument pack, and one of these games only, to get that price. It also says "rockband pack plus your choice of one of these games" meaning you buy the pack and you can choose a game. It will be all inclusive in the price, instruments and game for $49.

  • Guys, Is this bundle compatible with Band Hero on Xbox 360? Can I use the instruments with BH?

    • +1

yes it is according to this
      http://www.rockband.com/compatibility

for xbox as of gh: aerosmith onwards rockband instruments are compatible with gh/bh games
for ps3 as of gh: world tour onwards rockband instruments are compatible with gh/bh

  • +1

so i can't buy this for the wii GH?

    • +1

      nope unfortunately not for wii

  • i dont understand this deal. i pay $49 for what exactly?

    • should be instruments AND game

    • Its buy the rockband instrument pack and get a choice of AC/DC Live or Rockband Game included for $49

      • -2

I think you will find you can buy the pack for $49 once you purchase the game. It says in the small print both purchases must be made in the one transaction. I am imagining the game will be around the $50 - $60 mark.

  • Is there a microphone included in this? I cant seem to see it :(

  • Drums and guitar only according to the text of the ad. No microphone mentioned.

    • Assuming they're selling the 'Instrument Pack', it would include the microphone.

      • The JB Rock band pack for $44 comes with guitar, drums and microphone but no game. I assume this pack would be the same? But they don't list the microphone. In that case you may as well go to JB hifi and pickup the instruments and rock band game seperately for $40 without the microphone and save yourself $9.

  • Great price, +ve from me.
I paid $88 at the 'wacky' (we beat everyone else to drop the price) wednesday sale at eb games.

I would be disapointed, but for the sake of $40 I'm happy not to have to get up early boxing day, fight crowds and possibly miss out anyway.

  • Why does the guitar look different(dark brown frets, Plus and minus sign buttons) tot he one i recently purchased…anyway i never knew they sell inddividual instruments for retail

    • The guitar pictured could be the original wired one.

  • So is this available in Sydney? I cant see this item in the Kmart catalogue…and if it is available in sydney, what time exactly on boxing day would this be on sale??

  • +1

Check what time your local kmart store opens on boxing day:

Some are closed some are opened (usually) at 7am.

    http://www.kmart.com.au/LocationsHours.aspx?cm_sp=AU--Xmas%2…

    • Only 14/50 Kmart stores in NSW are open on boxing day. My local Kmart is closed boxing day. So I am guessing I can go down on sunday @ 7am instead and get this deal?

      Friday Closed (christmas day)
      Saturday Closed (boxing day)
      Sunday 07:00 – 19:00

      • that is a very good question… my local one and all the close-ish ones are closed on boxing day too..

        • The sale lasts until wed 6th, so assuming that they received a shipment of them, staff didn't buy them all and you beat all others to the games department, then it's safe to say you can score one on Sunday.

  • Thanks alot Turd! =)
But thing is Kmart always out of stock for sale items, so is there any tricks where I can be 100% sure (or close to) that I can get the bundle on the 26th?? (rather than sleeping outside a Kmart store LOL).

    • Call around today/tomorrow?

      • Yep thx, I will probably do that. but I read on the net that the rockband drum kit is crap compare to guitar hero world tour bundle, so hopefully that would be discounted too…

        • Otherwise just go for the $10 Rock Band guitars @ JBHIFI thats damn cheap. Even if you buy a couple for backup, still excellent value.

          • @g12345567: I'm going to head down and see if my local JB has any. A second guitar will complete the band component, as you only get 3 instruments in the normal pack.
A second guitar will play the role of bass.

          • @g12345567: can you give me a link :O

        • I've heard that the GH:WT drums are worse :D
The RB ones are less realistic (as they have no cymbals) but they have been proven to have better response and less faiure rate.

          • @Crownie: I've noticed on eBay that you can purchase a 3 cymbil add-on, making it almost look like a fully fledged drum kit. Not too sure on the details of them though, but just noticed them while searching.

            • @2023: But I think that addon is only for Rockband2…not sure if it would be compatible with Rockband1….

  • Hey, does anyone know if you can go to Dicksmith (or wherever) to price match using the Kmart catalogue? Hopefully we won't miss out that way!

  • +1

Technically, this deal is better than the jb deal purely because kmart got stock for this sale whereas jb are selling whatever is left in stock. This includes the final 49 copies of rockband left in all of aus. (that's what, 1 copy per store?). Half the stores in syd don't even know about the sale. Even then, i'm sure that most of the stores that are participating on boxing day are still selling their limited amount of rockband games and peripherals for full price right now (jb hifi employers are also taking advantage of this deal).

I called my local kmart and the lady said that it is two standalone instruments (guitar on its own and drums on its own) plus either acca dacca or original rockband. they haven't sold any of the stock at all and won't be until boxing day or sunday. Save yourself the mental anguish.

    • Was thinking that it was the individual instruments rather than the pack.
      Thanks for clearing that up.

So you could be getting a wired guitar in this pack?

My 1st stop on Saturday is Kmart, then it will be JB.
Hopefully, out of the 2 stores, I can get Rockband + game (not AC/DC) cheaper than $88 and return my Wacky Wednesday EB purchase- which was a great price if you needed Rockband as a Christmas present ;)

    • Kmarts stock will all be residual stock from their DCs as well, given that the bundles aren't actually being produced anymore..

  • Got one for my kids Xbox 360. Drum set is wired. Guitar is wireless. The instruments looks much better than the BH one. No microphone. They ran out of Rockband so I have to live with ACDC ;)

  • To those who were able to buy (or attempt) a rockband pack, what were the stock levels like?

  • +1

Just got mine today at Richmond. They had heaps instore approx 30+ units.

    • +1

kmart brandon park had probably about 10 units of each left at about 2pm…only ac/dc game left for ps3 tho

kmart chaddie was out of ps3 & wii by about 9am…!

  • +1

Im on the lookout for the xbox 360 version. Hopefully I will be able to get one tomorrow. I just need to get to kmart at 7am when they open on sunday. Otherwise I'll try my luck in JB hifi @ 7.30am or 9am when they open at the two nearby stores. Even though as reported here JB has hardly any stock.

I don't mind getting stuck with rock band ac/dc as I already have rockband 1 & 2 lined up to play.

  • +1

Mt Barker Kmart open today, had about 30 xbox 360 rock band sets (guitar + drums + ac/dc game or rock band game $49 bargain).
If you really want this deal and local adelaide suburb kmarts are out of stock i would recommend calling Mt barker to see if they have stock tommorrow

  • +1

Kmart Broadway PS3 kits all sold out. I think they had 1 left for Xbox 360.

  • +1

I was at Kmart Eastgardens at opening time. 15 or so people were there and pretty much all of them went straight for the RB deal.

Greedy vultures the lot of them - most of them were grabbing 4-5 of these packs! Only a few of us were getting just 1 each.

Also Rock Band disc sold out instantly, and most people were left to get the ACDC disc - though that works out better for me since I got the original :)

If you're planning on going for the RB pack you better go asap as they're very popular.

Tell me about spoke to 5 Kmart stores and all sold out north rocks had one left but getting sold as I was on the phone.

  • plenty of xbox ones at blacktown, parra and merrylands. absolutely none for the wii nor ps2/3

  • ran out in bankstown for wii i rung:

    hurstville: none
    parramatta: none
    burwood: none
    marrickville metro: none (except xbox)
    fairfield: none
    broadway: none.

stores said: ashfield, casula and merrylands are all sold out. :(

  • Went by Kmart Eastgardens again. They had 5 drums kits left - think they were PS3 and Xbox360. All guitars were gone. They also had 2-3 full instrument kits (game, guitar, drums, mic).
