  • I'm in. Hopefully I can learn a thing or two from some of the more experienced users. Are there any specific rules the ozBargain league has?

I'm a bit of a novice so any hints, tips, etc. are welcome and appreciated.

There are no rules set by the ozBargain league, it's all set by ASX and the rules are listen on their website, just buy some shares to learn how it works

Thanks. I know some leagues have their own rules on top of the ASX's rules.

  • Joined. I did this 15 or so years ago.. pretty much stayed even over the time period (maybe gained ~$1000)

Any tips / websites to watch for insider trades? :)

    • Basically if you want any chance of winning you need to buy stocks that are going to move up fast, generally the blue chip shares, WBC, CBA, ANZ aren't going to increase by 50% each so you need to by the cheaper stocks.

      • Atlas Iron (AGO) and Quickflix (QFX) :p

        • Pretty much, but they aren't apart of the ASX200 are they?

    • OK, just spent all my virtual money. -$187.

Now we play the waiting game.

    Ansell dropped massively.

    Buy while low? Condom bargains?

  • Well, I'm at the top of the OzB League today.

Tomorrow, I won't be. I took a gamble on FXL.. -$1000 and still going down!

    • China devaluing their currency by 2% has killed the markets

    Rank 405 - Average portfolio value : $48,792.00

We're not doing too well at the moment!

Just realized we're called 'Wolves of Wall Street'.

We should be called "OzBargain: Sell cheap, buy cheaper."

  • Computershare Limited(ASX:CPU)has today announced the establishment of an on-market buy-back program. Under the program, Computershare can buy-back shares having an aggregate value of up to A$140 million. Source

Can anyone tell me what kind of trend this will have on share prices?

If they're buying shares back, is it guaranteed to go up, down or stay the same price?

    Thanks!

    • Will normally make the share price increase as there will be less units of stock in the market for that company

Awesome, thanks. Wasn't sure if I should bail or not :) It's increased slightly over the last 30 mins.

  • Dick Smith's stocks just plummeted.

    • The retailer (DSH) also suffered in comparison with the thumping profit result produced by key competitor JB Hi-Fi last week which has pointed to a possible widening earnings gap between the two key players in the consumer electronics space.
