Ray-Ban sunnies

Hi, Where is the best/ cheapest place to buy Ray-Bans? I'm not sure exactly what style I want yet but I do want polarised.
is Sunglass Hut pretty much the cheapest? I haven't bought a pair for a few years. Thanks

I bought mine from sunglass hut, not knowing any different. Its the lens that cost money. I bought a polarised version which cost $100+ more than the non-polarised.
My lenses got scratched up, and I was reluctant to buy a new set for $80-120. I did manage to find a set of third party polarised lenses on ebay though, that cost me $20, and they are fine (from sublimeoptics on ebay if you wanted to look them up)

So… if I were to do it again, I'd look to see if I can get a third party polarised lens for the sunglasses I want. If I can, then I'll buy the non-polarised version, and swap out the lenses.

Sunglass hut when they have a 40% off friends and family sale.

or search overseas stores like otticanet. ive purchased from them before.

In Vietnam there's heaps of good quality / cant tell if fake Raybans (genuine Raybans aren't high quality / high fashion anyway)

"..genuine Raybans aren't high quality / high fashion anyway)"

According to one random individual on the internet.

    • I've had quite a few pairs of Ray Bans and I reckon they are good quality and the lenses are perfect for driving. My current pair has lasted me a few years of everyday wear. Unfortunately I've scratched them really badly.

      • dunno why anyone would negative vote my comment. was giving genuine advice on where you could buy Ray Bans + not bagging them out, just giving my opinion

        • I didn't realise I did? Sorry

        • As much as I didn't agree with your last statement, I didn't give you a neg vote. I keep my neg votes for really serious negative comments like abuse/personal attacks etc.

As for build, I have two sets of Aviators. One purchased in 2006. Still going strong, not a single scratch on the frame or the glass. And I have used it riding motorbikes, driving, it has had a tough life. And I recently bought a polarized flash aviator (almost a year old now) and no problem at all.

As with styling, that's a relative term. I hate the look of Wayfarers, my partner loves them. I am not contemplating divorce for that.

        • @shadowarrior: I already replied and said I didn't even realise I did give a neg vote. Have barely used OzBargain votes ever.

        • @Melbournemischief:
I replied to edwinlin, it may look like I replied to your comment :)
Was just confirming with him that we didn't neg vote him :P

        • @shadowarrior: Ahh I see. No worries. Thanks

Ray-Ban is pretty much RRP across the whole of Australia so you can't really get it much cheaper.. agree with edwinlin88 about Sunglass Hut FAF being about the best opportunity to get a good price.

In addition they offer a breakage protection promise- 50% off your repeat purchase if you do break them.. think they just ask for evidence of them being knackered as well as proof of purchase.

(disclaimer- used to work for them)

    • Do they have the FAF very often? the most recent post on Ozbargain about it was in Feb.

Ive been looking at getting myself a pair of clubmasters. Best price deal was around $163 with the code VD10 @ Vision direct, you also get the 'free' lens cleaning kit RRP$30.

Sunglass hut is $199 for the same pair, with more 'after purchase' perks. Such as the breakage protection.

It would be good to find a bargain on these glasses.. But the pair I bought last year were only RRP everywhere I looked (Sunglasses Hut, Myer, few others) for $180 or so.

I managed to get them at a sale around Christmas or Boxing day time (Really not sure) so I got them for $165 I think

Not normally the type of money I spend on this sort of small item… but I'm happy with them and I look after them. They should last me many years.

  • I purchased a pair in store at BigW Vision with prescription and polarised lenses for $20 more than the RRP, so around $220. http://www.clearly.com.au/ray-ban-rb2140-1016-black-on-red-w…
