Cheapest Nano-SIM Phone - Temporary Phone While Current Phone Gets Inspected

hello,
I want to take my Samsung Galaxy Alpha back for a refund/exchange… but Samsung will spend like a month "inspecting" it.

In the meantime I need a temp phone which will take my Nano SIM.

What's the cheapest? can be a piece of crap as long as it can take my SIM card.

You can grab them from ebay for $1 from Aussie sellers

      • Most of those stores in shopping malls that do screen replacements etc. will sell them too… obviously for more than $1 but you'll get it straight away

    • is there any nokia for $10?

sure there is. Im sure people would even give away their old Nokia for free

        • if you find on ebay etc post them here, i want to get one for spare if only $10. the classic 8210, 8250 for example.

what network are you on? even the humble nokia lumia 530 can be had for as little as $30 if you are on optus or Telstra. it uses a microSIM.

  • sorry I actually have a nano-SIM :S

SIM adapter is still the solution.
And just borrow a friend's old handset that sitting in a drawer somewhere.

      • +1 on that. See if you still have the card your sim came with. They usually have multiple sizes you clip out. You might be able to create a larger sim by sticky taping nano to bigger frame. I also agree friends are likely to have spare phones, certainly worth an ask.

Cant you just swap for a new sim? its easy enough - go grab a blank sim from a store front and ask for instructions on how to move to the new sim. They will tell you that this is usually done online.

    • na best idea is the SIM adapter

      • surprised that the galaxy alpha uses a nanoSIM…

        • why? isn't a nano SIM pretty much the same technology as a normal SIM but with the plastic cut away?

        • +1

@edwinlin88: yeah, but not many phones outside of the apple world are using them. there has been a lot more inertia to moving towards nanoSIM than there was moving towards microSIM. rightly so really - apple doesn't deserve the position to be the standards -creator and -enforcer for such things (and it sets a dangerous commercial precedent).

        • @xyron: ummm do you have an iphone ?

the past two phones ive had used nano sim.. htc one m8 and galaxy alpha
