Auspost Lost Mail Options?

Hey guys,

I made a purchase from bookware a couple weeks ago and never received the order. I've emailed them but no response. Tracking said that it had been delievered. Started a case with Auspost and they said it was signed for and provided a signature which isn't of anyone in my household. On the date they said it was delievered no one was home. I paid with debit card so can't paypal dispute. What are my options?

Cheers

I'm of no help here but I have wondered the same thing my self for have had people knock on my door and ask If I received a package for them as I have also been carded when I have been home all day, no knock just carded.

You could try and ask Auspost:(You won't get anywhere though)

    1. For a copy of the delivery address. It maybe different to yours.
    2. Was it carded, If so, when picked they would have had to show ID and be on security cameras
    3. Most of those signature things also have GPS tracking. See if they can provide the GPS for the signature/address.

    For future:

    1. Pay the extra for insurance. Though with signature?
    2. Buy a security camera that picks up your front door and mailbox if possible for future deliveries/At times even a sticker will get them actually deliver.
    3. Get Sender to place on delivery address note (SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS AT DELIVERY ADDRESS)

Not much help as said. They have their signature.

  • Yeah not really sure what i can do as they said it's been signed off for and tracked. Even with insurance i think i'd be in the same position. I don't think theres an option for the person to show ID to sign off. Pretty annoying as for all i know the mail guy signed for it and took it.

Take it up with Bookware and don't be fobbed off with unanswered emails. They make a big case for their reliability here: http://www.bookware.com.au/whychoose.htm

Now's the time for Bookware to show that their 'exemplary service' claim is valid and if they don't, please tell the world: it isn't your fault the package went astray.

I am no lawyer but I believe this is the right course of action, the sale is between you and Bookware and its up to them to sort out any problems with Auspost.

If worst comes to the worst can't you issue a chargeback through a debit card still?

This is why I tend to buy things with Credit Card; you can start a dispute with that. If the signature is not yours I don't see how Auspost has a leg to stand on with saying it was delivered. I think your case with Auspost is the only thing you can do here, it is not an issue with the store that sent it to you.

  • Some the Bad mail guys took it.

  • my international mail was lost of important docs, if you don't have insurance they don't give you replacement of product or money

they said we can re-reimburse for $50 for the loss not greater

    They=austpost

Well you did better, In my case they refunded the postage only. I paid for tracking and they couldnt even track where it got lost!.

Australia Post are thieves and we have all the crazies here in this country wanting businesses to be run by the government.

Well look at AustPost and you see that they dont care any more than a private organisation or even less so.

      • I spent $350 and I got $50 so no profit for me

  • I started another case with auspost via email but no reply for a week. Would be kinda happy with $50 compo, item was $70ish but better than nothing. Kinda dissapointing from the store how they didn't reply at all even if it was out of their hands.

If the signature doesn't belong to anyone in your household, it is down to Auspost to investigate and find where the package was delivered to - which they are able to do.

If they are not willing, tell them you will report to PIO http://www.pio.gov.au/

You could bring it up on their Facebook page.

I can understand the store's position but they should be willing to help with advice.
