Best Cheap TV 50 - 55"

Hi
My Sony Bravia KDL46HX800 just died after 4 1/2 years of service.

Hence in the market for a new TV.
Don't want to spend too much on TV any-more as the last one costed me around $425/ year.
So looking at budget ones for this time (around $700 mark).
I liked the clarity of my tv though.
Please suggest something with a decent screen.
ATM I am considering anything Chanhong 50" (I guess Dicksmith is going to phase em out soon)
Soniq E55S14A (Don't really need 3D but I liked the screen on this one)
Any other ??
Need help from Fellow OZBargainers
Cheers
Andy

    • Checked everything swapped both the bal board & inverter board. Nothing works. The last option left is the Panel itself, that is too expensive to replace.

  • I bought 55" TV from Kogan 2 years ago for about $700 delivered, its not the best in terms of specs etc but works fine and I haven't had any issues with it (touch the wood:).

    • Hi Bion
I looked on Kogan one's. The only thing that puts me off is warranty. you only get 1 year from them. I really want 3-years atlest. Thats why Changhong and Soniq.
My experience with Kogan branded products has not been great. So for anything worth more than $50 I really dont have much confidence in Kogan. Good to hear yours is going strong.

      • fair enough but look also on gumtree you might score good deal on second hand

  • Don't go with hisence.
The brand new TV we have takes over a minute to turn on which is extremely frustrating. It was a gift, if I had my way I would have forked out myself for a better tv

    • Hi Sandgroper,
what model you have. I am seriously thinking about the 50K390PAD.

      • I will check when I get home

      • Same model but the 55 inch
You might not mind but I find it frustrating how slow it is.
Plus it's an android TV but you can't watch catch up TV channel because of some licensing thing
