NBN Compatible Modem Router Required

Hi all

NBN is coming late 2015 for me and just my luck my current modem router (billion 7800n) died on me. if I understand correctly I only need a router for NBN but unfortunately they leaves me with no internet for a while. I need it as I work quite frequently from home. Can anyone recommend a good and reliable modem router that will hold me on good stead for that will be easily compatible when NBN comes along?

Budget is 200-300

Thanks on advance

TP Link Archer D7 or D9.

Rocking the D9 right now and the range on it is badass.

    • I have the D7 and real happy with it

If you're in an FTTP/Fixed Wireless location, you don't even need a modem/router, just a router (with a WAN port) as the NTD has an ethernet port for you to plug into with a network cable.

If you're in a FTTB/FTTN location, you'll need a VDSL compatible model/router. So whenever you look, make sure it is ADSL compatible to work for you for now, and VDSL compatible to work once NBN comes along.

  • I bought TP-Link Archer D9 two months ago. I've never been happier. No more dead zones or wifi drops in a medium-large townhouse. See if you can find a good deal. Otherwise you can get C9 Router only for like $170ish. Same stuff just no modem (you don't need modem for NBN anyways.)

    • As per my post above, the modem will be necessary if his house is going to get FTTB/FTTN NBN access, which doesn't have an NTD and still needs a modem.

  • With your budget, you may get any high-end wireless router from TP-Link, Netgear, ASUS, D-Link. All current versions are supported NBN.
