    Field Range (Centigrade): 9 degrees

I think Gearbest have no idea what they are describing.

The included "hanging rope" sounds a bit ominous too.

I do hope they mean "neck strap"

My favourite is the chick holding them with the caption "View far weapon"… What the?

      • Goes perfectly with them describing everything as a "target".

        • It reminds me of Far Cry. Do you think it also will tell me what type of target I am looking at?

  • Exit pupil distance: 20mm

    = crap

They will feel like you're looking through a narrow pipe…

    • These have a 20 x magnification so I would have thought they have narrow field of view.

It all depends on what you are looking for in Binoculars.

Even if you want this high level of magnification, I am not sure what the quality is going to be like.

      • You don't want to hand hold over 10x for any significant length of time. Might be better with a tripod mount.

Double the price on Amazon (Usually over $200 if you buy locally), but the Bushnell Permafocus 12x50 are absolutely incredible for the price. I use them for hunting/spotting and they are crystal clear with amazing low light abilities. I tell random strangers on the street about them.

Paying for a quality set with binoculars is worth every cent.

    • Wouldn't touch permafocus. Roughly in focus just isn't good enough. Certainly not something you want for Astronomy. If you're looking to spend around the $200 you can get brand name binocs like Nikon or Pentax.

      • Just like you wouldn't use CAD on a Chromebook… #horses4courses

        • Roughly in focus is roughly in focus regardless of the application. It ain't right for me for any application. #deadhorse

        • @syousef:
My pair are definitely not roughly in focus. I find them to be quite sharp, comparable to my Pentax even. Perhaps you tried a dud copy. Still the best binoculars I've tried for ~$50.

        • @thebargainhunter:

Nothing to do with a dud pair. It's all about the type of binoc. "Permafocus" usually means focused at hyperfocal length or at infinity.

Almost 2 months and I am still waiting on my previous order. Be prepared for the long shipping.

I would not buy these without at least reading some reviews from someone knowledgable.

I put together this talk for my local astro club a couple of years back on buying binocs:
    http://www.progsoc.uts.edu.au/~sammy/astronomy/Adventures%20…

It describes what you should look for in cheap binocs to get something usable. Most of the bargains have dried up since as our dollar has tanked and cheap Chinese exports have dried up. You use to be able to get okay binocs from DSE or Parklea Markets.

My family and I used some of the binocs I describe for the record attempt on Friday:
    https://www.facebook.com/WorldRecordStargazing

The pair I used were these the 10 x 50WA binoculars with filtering here:
    http://www.andrewscom.com.au/binoculars
At the time they were $49 (2x as much as the bargain) not $79 (>3x as much). Note also that the shop is closed till the end of the month, reopening Monday 31st.
