"Overview of the Virgin Australia Virgin Flyer Card complimentary flights offer -
One of the great benefits of signing up to the Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Cards is the four discount flights you’ll receive. The offer works in much the same way that a buy one get one free scheme does. As with any deal however, there are a number of terms and conditions you should be aware of first".

I used to have this card… but these conditions made the offer quite useless:

    The fine print
◾The offer isn’t applicable on sale fares.
◾The offer is subject to availability, meaning not all flights or peak times will be available. More information can be obtained when booking.
◾You can only pay for the flight with the Virgin Velocity Flyer and High Flyer card, Virgin Australia gift vouchers, and Virgin Australia credit notes.

Often, I found that you were better off buying 2x sale fares, instead of using the buy one get one free offer, because the first ticket that you had to pay for was usually more expensive than the two put together… even if it wasn't, the savings would have been in the region of ~$10 - $20. So, at the end of the day, it wasn't worth paying $99 for the privilege of jumping through hoops.

    • bluedufflecoat … thank you for your valuable
      comment …

    • do you still get status and FF points for the flights booked this way?

Yes but still the same earn rate but shared by two people. If you spend $200, I think you get the equivalent of points if you spent $100 and your friend gets the other $100.

        • status too?

        • @madmouse58: if I recall correctly, yes - it's half as much as you would earn, based on half as much $$ spent per ticket. Not sure if they've changed it. I gave up the card years ago.
