  I would rather book at Hotels.com and get their booking reward and price match( Basicly you are getting %10 discount after you book 10 nights they will give you a free night based on the average booking price for the last 10 nights + cashrewards %5 if you pay at the time of booking). FYI hotels.com and Expedia owned by the same company. Expedia will give you $50 voucher if you were able to find a cheaper price but the catch is 1- Participation hotels 2- Your booking must be over $300.

    Agree with you that hotels.com is really good for booking hotels for the reasons you mentioned, but having the cash in your pocket is always better than having it as a credit with a particular website. Personally I'd prefer 10% off than getting 10% in credit for my next booking.

    Similar example: refunding something for $200 from David Jones onto a gift card vs $200 cash. I'd much rather $200 cash.

    Unless of course you are saying you can get hotels.com to price match the 10% off rate as well? Because if you can then that would be preferable!
