  • how many in stock?

    • no idea, but i assume not many, considering that its out of stock at most places.

  • WA - Ellenbrook, Midland Gate, Karrinyup

    • Thanks, added. I only tried all the capital city postcodes, so I guess I missed quite a few.

  • NSW- Miranda, Bathurst, Shellharbour

  • "Dicksmith" = maker of d*cks

  • Bought one at the same price from shoppingexpress.com.au a few months ago.

Not the best - esp that it has only 1GB ram

And for sure it's not the best deal around. Don't fall into the trap of buying it for the discount

    • I bought the Unisurf tablet in the Harvey Norman deal a while ago (for considerable cheaper), and 1GB of ram is enough for all my browsing needs. IMO, its worth the price for the Processor, display, storage and camera. I would definitely rather this over ipads.

    1GB ram..no thanks.

  • Tbh, dat deal isn't good considering dat HP Stream 7 & 8 has buzzing headphone issue. It's not dat bad as people say but it's not worth paying less to have this tablet.

Hold up, why is 1gb of ram considered not enough for a windows tablet.

We aren't talking the latest version of android here…

  • If it is windows store (modern) apps, that's enough, but we all know where the desktop apps come from and for those, you need more ram the better, period.

  • If it is windows store (modern) apps, that's enough, but we all know where the desktop Software come from and for those, you need more ram the better, period.
That's why I call these tablets new rt, it doesn't have the guts to run full size traditional desktop applications, go test it with seven chrome browsers open and music streaming antivirus crap in the background, then you know why 1gb is not enough

    • For me the intent wouldn't be to use full sized desktop apps. Nor should it be for anyone else, treat it like a windows phone with desktop access.

I do wonder if upgrading it to windows 10 would be a bad idea though.

      • Have a similar Pendo Pad 8" with the same specs and chipset - runs Windows 10 OK, dont expect it to be fast however for reading the news, facebook and some casual browsing in MS Edge is fine. Found once Chrome (or similar) is installed it slows down, mainly due to the 1GB of RAM, however after running HWInfo on my device it seems to mention a second memory slot, might open it up to confirm this one day..

Also - Windows 8.1 on these devices will not upgrade in the same manner as other devices, the 8.1 install uses WimBoot and therefore will not allow a "Windows Update" style upgrade, although mounting the ISO from an SD got me installed and activated fine, those that want to take it further can use the compact install options in an unattended.xml to reduce the x86 footprint to around 10GB, although I would upgrade first to reserve the activation on the device.

  • Relented and grabbed one last night after checking out a few review. Perfect device for my needs and the flexibility of a full os is appealing to me.
