      lmao…

Why is this getting downvoted?? No sense of humour, anyone?

      • +1

I think some are still traumatised by the Laugh Factory show.

      • Yeah I know. I was thinking "what did I say wrong here".

        • +1

I don't know, but you should feel bad.

Edit: forget what I've said earlier, you've more upvotes now.

  • I'm guessing the quality isn't super awesome?

It could just my rotten luck but I bought a hybrid Reid bike. Had to take it back twice within the first two weeks. First, the gears weren't changing properly. It would change every 2-3 gears (this was pre-assembled by Reid) and they also didn't give me the mud guard I paid for. The second time was because the chain snapped as I was riding and I nearly injured myself. I was stranded as I didn't have any means to travel back home from where I was (on a park trail).

You bought a cheap bike. What did you expect?

        • I've bought 4 bikes from them in the last 12 months, I've never had an issue with any of them.

  • +7

My advice is to get it to pick up from the store preassembled. Saves a trip when bits are missing.

Should note, it's an extra $39.95 get actually get the basket with it.
And they don't show any pictures without the basket, so not sure if it's just the wicker part or the actual holding fram attachment.
EDIT: Yes you have to pay for the "kit". So it doesn't have the wire part that you could stick a basket like thing in. Unless you pay the extra $$$$$'s

    • I wonder if the wicker part can be locked in of if it's an insert that just goes in/out. I wouldn't want to buy the lot and then have wicker part stolen =/

      • +1

It is removable, so if you're heading to an insecure place it's a good idea to leave it at home or take it with you. An alternative is to zip tie to the basket frame.

        • Thank you rep. Also I purchased yesterday using a $10 off discount code. I didn't use FREE20. Would you guys be willing to honor FREE20 if I paid the difference and purchased the basket instore when I pick up the lot?

        • @Uncharted: FREE20 wasn't supposed to be available with sale items (only full priced items) and has now being amended. So unfortunately not. The Mixte for $139 is well below cost, so you've already got an EPIC deal!

        • @Clem11: Understood. Thanks for the reply.

compare the style against Aldi Retro bike from last week, $199 with basket
    https://www.catalogueau.com/aldi/aldi-special-buys-week-34-2…

might be some still floating around Aldi, marked down if you are lucky.

    • my local aldi sold out the lady bike the night it put on sale..

      • I would prefer this mixte frame to a step through frame.

There are many reasons to buy a bike from a reputable bike store rather than a supermarket chain. In fact, we have 7 great reasons to choose Reid Cycles: https://www.reidcycles.com.au/why-choose-reid.

super comfortable bike - bought one for my wife and she loves it.

Asked the guy on the phone and he put it through on top of the purchase when I menitoned it

        • +2

@vatorres: I've tried signing up to whatever I can but doesnt show. Howd you get it? can you PM me the code or is it one use only?

Edit: nvm I found a different code for $20 off. FREE20

        • @infra:

          what's the min spend?

        • +1
        • @infra: FREE20 does not work on this cycle.

        • @regenade: well it worked for me and some others so your unlucky I guess

  • These were $199 yesterday, almost bit the bullet thinking a sweet deal, glad I waited a day and saved $100 on two bikes for the wife and child.
plus an extra $10 for the voucher thanks to @YatCheung for pointing it out

    • +1

Hi Diddy50, it was a different model selling for $199 - this has been selling @ $259. However, it is being discontinued, so once it's gone it's gone!

  • Jumped in and didn't read the comments to get the extra 10 off.

Oh well. At least I have an October present sorted nice and early! Was expecting to be shelling out $200 for one.

    Thanks Reid.

TEN23 for $10 off (min spend $50), expires in a week

  • +6

In case other comment isnt obvious for $20 off use: FREE20

    • damn I wish I saw this first

    • I'm starting to think I should get the basket too. I'll call tomorrow to see if they'll honor FREE20 if I add the basket on top.

    • The coupon stop working when I try to apply it in the discount code, am I doing something wrong?

Any MTB sales coming up @OP? Thinking of getting the old man a bike.

    • +1

Right now @JoshG123! The X-Trail 26" MTB is currently on sale for $299 - down from $479. Another 1 week only 'Spring It On' deal @ Reid Cycles. Check it out here: http://www.reidcycles.com.au/x-trail-26.html

Steel frame. Previously bought my wife a steel framed bike as a gift, I thought it was awesome. She thought it was too much effort to ride and started using a rusty old alloy bike instead…

  • How hard would it be to put together the bike? What sort of tools?

  • +1

I have Reid cycles but not this, instead http://www.reidcycles.com.au/reid-city-1-0-bike.html
But I didn't have that much money, so I bought secondhand on gumtree a year ago for $120.
Quality wise, I'm surprised this bike can withstand with absolutely no cleaning at all since I bought it a year ago. I did casual riding, usually from train station to home approx 2km return everyday. Never change tire, never change chain, the rear or front Derailleur never have a problem. Even I bought a $30 set of complete bike repair kit from Aldi, I rarely (literally twice) I opened them a while ago.
Compares to more generic supermarket brand from Kmart, BigW, or Aldi with all necessary features such as rear pannier and Alloy mudguards (very useful when you ride in rain or wet surface), Reid bike is arguably your best value bike for cheap ass like me. Don't put my words seriously though as I never try other more expensive bike.
    Correct me If I;m wrong.

    • Thanks. I bought this to get me to my local train station and back 4km return. I know shit all about bikes so your experience comforts me.

  • Remember there's cashreward too! 4%.

I've just put in an order! Used both codes and comes down to $162 :)

Ah such a rush decision! Hope I don't regret it

EDIT: I've also added the basket kit. So supposedly be $189 before discount code

  • -

  • 1" stem isn't standard - it should be 1 1/8".

Since this is made of steel, it's going to be very heavy as well.

    • Since this is made of steel, it's going to be very heavy as well.

Just like the old days ;)

      • But cheap steel (e.g. like hi-ten not chromoly). So harsh ride.

  • If you buy one, I strongly recommend getting it ready assembled (store collection), not in a box (home delivered).

  • What are dimensions of the size S bike?

  • anyone know the difference between this and the 'classic'

    • The Vintage 7-Speed Mixte and Vintage 7-Speed Classic have very similar specs (components etc), but the key difference is frame shape. The other difference is the Mixte is being discontinued - hence the crazy price. Other bikes in the Ladies Vintage range, such as the Vintage 7-Speed Classic PLUS, have better quality components, and with that, the higher prices.

      • thanks, what are your delivery time to Newcastle like for orders before midday today like

        • Today's orders would be dispatched on a courier tomorrow, and arrive within 3-4 week days. So Wednesday/Thursday next week.

        • @Clem11: i forgot to add a basket liner to my order, is it best to call up to add this or is too late (ordered an hour ago)

        • @h3h3: If you call us before 5.30pm we should be able to add this on no worries :) (03) 9329 1222

  • Anyone know anything about carrying stuff on the rear-rack?
It looks like there is a decent amount of room at the rear to add a rear-basket.
I'm on eBay looking for a large aftermarket basket to carry my gym bag.
Not sure if the rear-rack that comes with this bike will be compatible with any rear-basket, if I need to uninstall that one and install a new generic one, as per this set http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bike-Basket-Rear-Rack-Combo-packa…

  • Hi rep.. are any of the vintage men's bikes that are on sale (i.e. the virtue bikes)in stock. I can't add to cart

    • There are only a handful left around out stores I'm afraid!

  • Hi there Reid rep,
if we order one online can we pick it up in store assembled?
    Thankyou

    • Yes, as long as the bike is available online & instore (just select Click and Collect). At this stage, we only have PLUM coloured Mixte's left.

      • ok thankyou

  • Well that was depressing, mine appears to have been run over, before it was even used!

I guess that's the best time to have your bike run over.

    • Kudos to Reid Cycles. Replacement arrived barely 24hours later and squished bike picked up.
