Which brand of polos do you recommend? Also, is your work casual dress? If so, what do you wear?

Well I guess this is two questions with the former stemming from the latter. My new workplace is 'casual' dress and I'm curious what OzBargainers would think suitable.

I'm thinking of buying a bunch of polos and some casual but clean shoes (plain Vans canvas etc), which brings me to the other bit: what are some good polos you can recommend? I'm not after something super cheap, but I don't want to spend more than about ~$30 per shirt. At the same time I'm not after something that looks visibly cheap or will fall apart after a few wears.

TIA!

  • Is it an engineering place? They might have work polo's?

No work uniform I'm afraid, maybe I can bully someone into making some work hoodies or something though

If you are thinking of buying several or bulk try this Clothes2Order. Their Gildan polos are cheap and good. They are a little on the thin side, but works well in summer.

I got my Gildan polos from Catch of the Day. 1.5 years and still going strong.

    • Looks pretty damn good, I'll check it out!

  • +1 for Gildan. When we've travelled to the US in recent years, my husband usually stocks up with polos and t-shirts from the different places we've visited and he always goes for the Gildan brand. They're good quality, last really well and the sizing is consistent too.

  • I can certainly tell you where not to go…Lowes. Talk about piss poor quality.

Looking for some more flexible work attire in the human services field, I figured some time back that I'd take a leaf out of the allied health guys book & start wearing a smart polo; and I got suckered into getting some that looked nice at Lowes. Week one the boss commented on how snappy & sporty/professional they looked, week two the same manager very politely suggested I switch back to business shirts…that's how quick they went from presentable to boganesque! Not happy! :/

  • My work can be smart casual and up. I discovered Slazenger polos a few years ago due to being lazy in the morning and a cheap bastard. Most are 65% polyester 35% cotton. I used to only look out for all cotton shirts but they required constant ironing. These don't. They have kept their shape and have yet to fade. It's the only shirt I wear now at work.

I wear them tucked in with black pants and business shoes. I haven't been pulled into the office yet!

You can see the range here but the blue is my favourite.

    • Bought about five of those Slazenger polos, I'll see how they go. Ty!

They just came in. So far they seem great, thanks a lot!
