Best Value Stylus Pen for Note-Taking?

I am looking to buy a Stylus Pen for my Nexus 7. I have had trouble finding good information, where some are only compatible with Ipad/samsung. Looking to spend anywhere up to $45 or so.

So far I have found:

Dagi Slim Fine Tip - $26.95 - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dagi-Slim-Fine-Tip-Disc-Precissio…

Adonit Jot Pro Fine - $43.95 - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Adonit-Jot-Pro-Fine-Point-Stylus-…

Wacom Bamboo Stylus - $34.50 - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-Wacom-Bamboo-Stylus-Duo-P…

Thanks in advance

    • That stylus requires supports by the tablet or the device you want to use it for (i.e. Surface Pro 1,2, Galaxy Note series, Vivotab Note 8, ThinkPad 10, etc).

      • ah i see. yeah i have note 3 phone and note 10.1 tablet therefore saw the review but too expensive still, around $30 then i will buy

        • They feel alright, no eraser is a deal breaker though (my surface pen broke and I needed a replacement fairly quickly, so I had no other choice).

Aliexpress sells one for ThinkPad 10 (Wacom one) for $10 USD ish. I frankly like it more than Surface one because you can replace the tip and button do not get that metal smell. I'd recommend it purely because it's hard to find a Wacom stylus that cheap and working (if you are worried about Aliexpress, you probably can grab one from Lenovo). The tip on the thinkpad one would feel different to Note one though, it's plastic, so that's something you should consider.

        • @Oversimplified: link please for the thinkpad 10 pen?
by the way, when i bought my note the seller include this pen, it has "eraser" at the butt of the pen. works on my note i tried.

@erwinsie: The surface pen has an eraser, but the bamboo one doesn't unfortunately.

Here's the link for the ThinkPad pen. One thing you should note is since I use it for PC, I calibrated mine with the Wacom program from Wacom. Not sure whether you could do that with Note series.

  • Adonit Job Pro and Dagi one might work, but those will work like an extension of your finger, not a pen. Your tablet do not support Wacom stylus or any of the active stylus technology (the one with palm rejection and pressure sensitivity), so you really cannot use them for serious note taking in my opinion.

Grab a tablet that supports proper stylus is my advice, or you could try using Adonit Job Pro and Dagi one, but I doubt it's going to be good.

    • Yeah it seems that my tablet has limited my choice. I can afford a new tablet, but I don't think it's worth the investment just yet. I might try out the Adonit Job Pro. Thanks for the heads up!

      • if you are into stylus, get note 10.1 (2014) edition from ebay, second hand wifi only probably just $200

        • It's fairly outdated though (that said, tablet market is very stagnant, it's on par with Tab S in terms of spec in many ways, even though it's been 2 years since release), I'd recommend rooting it and debloating it + replacing the launcher with Nova Launcher at the very least.

  • Joy Factory Pinpoint Precision Stylus BCU204 2nd gen Fine tip

I like this one but too expensive for me, work with most tablets.

    • wondering why it needs battery/power?

      • It probably communicates with the tablet via bluetooth or something.
Most active styli use battery, Wacom doesn't because Wacom use magnetic field or something.

  • I had an Adonit. It was a classic which they have stopped making. It's alright!

Search for PTR stylus on ebay. They are like cheap n crappy rubber nib ones in style but instead of rubber which go soft, daggy and hard to slide, these have a mesh tip. Very smooth gliding and has a 'clicker' to retract the mesh tip into body.

I got a couple about 2 months ago for $13 each. Works fine with Samsung Tab S and the screen on my Note phone & Tablet but not with the Note's buttons which are 'digital' rather than capacitive.
