PlayStation Plus Questions

Howdy

Finally caved and bought a PS4 from recent deals, never had a console before and don't know anything about PSN, can someone clarify the following for me please?

1) $5.8-$9.95/month isn't that bad, seems to be some decent freebie games from historic data, is there a cheaper way to buy sub? eBay has plenty of US/HK/etc PSN card in different face value, are they compatible/recommended?

2) If I buy an electronic freebie, then delete it to free up some space, then want it back, I assume I can re-download and it's still free?

3) Addition to the above, Sony website says "If you're a PlayStation Plus member, you can download this item at no extra cost and it's yours to keep until your membership ends." Does that mean if I discontinue subscription, I can no longer play it? And am I unable to re-download unless I have sub?

4) As I will be only doing SP/local MP, I have no use for PSN aside for freebie games. Can I cancel and resubscribe at any given time as long as a month is paid for? Say I subscribe for a month starting from today so I can get freebie for both the month of August & September, unsub after the month, see nothing of interest in October, then resub in November so I can get November & December, etc, etc. Does that work?

That's all I can think of, thanks heaps :)

  • then psn cards and money for sale is normaly for other countrys. ive yet ti see Australian psn money or ps plus for sale anywhere other then australian retailers such as eb games or jb hifi.

The free games are only playable while you have a Playstation plus suscription.

if you decide to not keept your subscription you wont be able to play them. but if you do decide to buy another month or more later down to track you wiull be able to redownload whatever games you cleaimed while your had a subscription.

  • You can't turn your subscription off and on, if you buy a yearly, you'll be on Plus for the entire year straight. If you want a month by month basis, you will need to buy the short subscriptions, but will be more expensive in the longer run.

  • 1) 12 month subscription for $69.95 is the cheapest per month. Dick Smith sometimes sells PSN cards for 20% off but this only happens once or twice a year. You can make a US account but the price is pretty much the same but US have better sales.

    2) You just need "purchase" them and they will be in your download history/games library forever.

    3) You can only play the free games as long as you have an active subscription. Discounted games you buy can be played without a subscription.

    4) No.

  • Most points covered but i will re iterate point 1.

Aussie PSN cards will only work for Aussie PSN account. Yes you can get cheaper cards from overseas but you won't be able to use it with your AU PSN account. Pay the $70 and forget about it imo.

  • Gottcha, kinda bummed out the free games requires sub as they are technically paid for… All good, thanks for the clarifications!
