  • Destiny (original game) is getting superseded by The Taken King in 16 days. That's why it's so cheap.

    • +4

yes,but this is a good price for the original. I guess if you really get into it, you can get the DLC. I only played it for the first time today, the game play is quite good, a mix between Halo and borderlands.

If you buy The Taken King, it comes with the original game anyway. And in 16 days, you won't be able to do much without The Taken King.

        • You'll still be able to do all of the original content is not like the base game is broken without it. This is where (the point of DLC expansions) the community becomes split and Destiny will become a nightmare to find local games on your system of choice.

    • So is this the only way for people to keep themselves a copy of the Dinklage?

      • No. When The Taken King is released, everyone will be forced to switch over to Nolan North's voice. Because Destiny is an always-online game, there is no way to avoid this. You can't play it offline with the original disc.

  • Note* This is the biggest selling game on next gen consoles of all time. So it's a bargin

If have thought GTAV would be a better seller. 54 million on consoles at last count, pretty sure Destiny doesn't compare to those figures.

      • Destiny had 62 million. Trumph!

He did say 'next gen' which would generally mean the Xbox One and PS4 (despite being current gen). I imagine the majority of GTAV's sales were over the 360 and PS3 and are thus last gen sales. That said, Destiny also shipped on those consoles so whatever figure would need to take that into account.

That or get on with life since in the end of the day both sold astonishingly well and the only real impact it has is ensuring there is a solid user base to find games with when going online.

        • Yeah, wasn't looking for a fanboi fight, I just assumed GTAV was the bigger seller. Still not sure on Activision's claims. They dress everything up so purdy.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: Yeah who knows, could go either way. I wonder how many more units GTAV would have shipped if it had hit the PS4 and Xbox One closer to launch. I fully intend to play it at some point, but didn't back at the time of the 360 launch since I was going to the Xbox One day one and figured it was very likely they'd release it for that system. Now they have I'll pick it up, but I'm inclined to wait for a big price drop on it.

I imagine theres a number of people out there that haven't played it due to where it released in conjunction to the current gen consoles.

  • Is there a single player campaign or something to do/play if you're not online?

    Thank you.

    • +1

You have to be online to play, but you can play through the game without interacting with anyone.

      • Which is how I did it. You will occasionally see other people passing by which you can join on the spot for a while as a group and then break away if you want to. The times I played with others was due to getting an invite by some passer by, but there's no obligation to accept or play with the same people long term.

There's also optional events that'll randomly trigger which usually attracts one or two players to where you are (such as hold off an attack for 3 minutes). But again, entirely optional.

  • Do note that first year bonus which is reachin lvl 30 or owning 2 DLC by 31st August is going to end… So just get taken king and save the 15$
