Video Recorders - Advice or Recommendations

Hello.

I'm looking to buy a video recorder. does anyone know of any good deals out there. Looking to spend up to $300.
A friend is having a baby in the next few weeks, and this would make a great gift. Something small like the Sony Handycam would be perfect.

thanks

  • Based on the title , my question was going to be something along the lines of, do places still sell video recorders. Once I read the post I realised you were talking about todays equivalent of video cameras( I might even have this term wrong).

I've heard that something called a Go Pro is supposed to be very small but apart from that I have no idea of modern cameras and prices. Sorry I couldn't have been more helpful. Good luck.

  • any brand name FHD camera would be fine really

not sure if any do FHD @ 60fps but that would be what i'd be aiming for

you do know a 'video recorder = VHS VCR' to most people

    this isnt 1999 any more

  • Sony HDR-CX405 would fit if you must spend about $300. The XAVC S codec should be high enough for reasonable video.

  • You would be very surprised at the quality of movies that mobile phones can take these days.
Digital cameras do it too and are just as good as most dedicated video cameras.
A very good one of either can be had for much less than $300, easy.
