SYDNEY: Cheap accommodation near sydney olympic park 13 FEB

Hi guys

a group of 11 of us students are trekking down from brisbane to sydney to watch the top gear show at sydney olympic park, acer arena, homebush bay on the 13th of feb.

i was wondering as we do not know the area too well. and cant find too many offers for a large group of 11people. if someone knew of a cheap clean place for us to stay. be it motel hotel. hostel. we dont mind aslong as there is secure parking.

we thank you in advance.

cheers

  • I live in the area and there's not much nightlife in the area. You might be better off staying somewhere more lively like the CBD or near the beach and catching the train in to Olympic Park.

Depending on how long you're staying, I've found hiring a house is the most cost effective option for large groups.

  • If you're not driving down, then staying in yha or similar near central station would be a good choice. You could buy out 3 rooms with 3 bunk beds relatively cheaply, and take the train straight to SOP.

With the cars, you might need to look at motels. +1 to holdenmg comment about wotif

  • thanks for the responses guys. i think ill be heading into the CBD. trains to the SOP do not cost much do they? ive found a nice hotel with $140 family rooms. :) should work a treat. oh and we are driving down. and noticed that the SOP parking is like $20 or some extravagant amount like that

    • You need to go Central > Lidcombe > SOP most of the time. Tickets are quite cheap especially if you just buy to SOP from your destination (I think that works?). Otherwise it's a ocuple of bucks or something.

Cheapest parking around SOP is $20, even the meters charge that much. There's a little bit of free parking I think (maybe only 2hrs though) but it'll surely be taken.
