  • uhm, how bargain is this? i assume replica standard price is always lower than genuine

I paid about $500 for mine from Milan Direct and this is the normal price, so I thought it was pretty good, but happy to be corrected.

is your one leather? is this one leather?

        • +1

I think mine is leather, but not 100% sure. Have had it for 4 or 5 years. It doesn't say in the catalogue anywhere if this is genuine leather or not, sorry.

@Rocket: it definitely does matter though. Fake leather tends to flake and disintegrate after some years.

Real leather doesnt, as long as u look after it (condition it once every couple years)

        • +1

@ed123: totally agree it does matter.

        • +2

@Rocket: Yours is definitely synthetic as the leather one has never been sub $600. You can easily check though by referring to your original invoice that was emailed to you. Also if the piping on the chair has the same texture/feel as the actual cushions that is a give away as the piping on both those chairs is synthetic. Another point is the synthetic has no grain and will appear to uniform in texture and finish all over.

Aldi one IS NOT leather. Not for that price.

        • @Third_Gear: thanks for that.

        • @Third_Gear:

The Kogan one for about the same price states Cow Leather so I guess that the covering is made from PU cows?

        • @teaBagger: Possibly split leather. Google that term and have a read. Maybe the aldi one uses split leather…who knows. Definalty not top grain!!

    anyone have one of these?

is it real leather or PU or PE or plastic?

  • Anyone actually got one of these from previous sales?
I've sat in some other replica Eames and they've been ridiculously uncomfortable.

    • I find putting a cushion behind my lower back fixes that.

If this is a good replica I'm buying the heck out of this.

They had the replica Ghost chair the other month. They seem to be popular with most store selling out

More a chair to kick back and drink all the single malts we have bought from the deals lately.

These look great, but they're not very comfy. The highest point of the chair when sitting sits shoulder height (I'm average height, so worse for tallish kinds) so you can't rest your head anywhere, which is very uncomfortable as you have to hold your head up when sunk into the air with your feet up. It's the only reason I never bought it even though I like the look. I think there are versions out there with head rests.

  • What does the real thing feel like? Is it any good, considering it was first made in the 50s?

    • I got to sit in a real one in a boutique furniture place in Germany, and I gotta say it was very comfortable, especially with the foot rest. But now I've sat in a real one I'm not sure if I can ever go to a copy…

      • Real one is $6500 including free delivery until the 7th of September from Living Edge. I got the newsletter a few days ago.

This chair is a piece of crap. I just assembled it and the chair is so hard you sit on the cussion, not comfortably in the cussion. It looks good but no one in the family wants to use it after trying it out so I am taking it back.

The material is PE 100% also which is no big deal if it were just comfortable.

    • What a shame, at least you know you can take it back no questions asked. Thanks for the feedback.

    • I took it back and got a full refund. I can’t knock Aldi for the service but I only wish the CEO sat in one. Without exaggeration, it is truly the worst piece of furniture I have ever sat on. I also took a photo of myself sitting on it and compared to pics off the net of the real thing and it appears the one from Aldi is much smaller, kind of 2/3 scale.
