Thoughts? I think it's finally what I want in a smart watch!

Oh, and:

The Gear S2 is compatible with just about any Android smartphone with at least 1.5GB of RAM that runs Android 4.4 and up.

  • I actually watched the unpack event on livestream (had something that needed to be done by today and I wanted to take break, so I watched it for 30 minutes). Nothing new was revealed about the Gear S2 in my opinion, other than Gear S2 will be compatiable with any Android smartphone (and I guess the Samsung Pay with NFC), which might be a big thing for many people. Most of the stuff were leaked before the event though.

I personally found the last bit about the new tablet line more interesting, Galaxy View, a new tablet with 16:10 (I assume) ratio screen (some people think that it's the 18 inch tablet that was leaked from a shipment docket, some people think it's 12 inch tablet). I am not too sure whether that's related to the teaser image we had before though, because that looks more like 12 inch tablet at best.

September will be the death of me, with me probably staying up late on 11th as well.

I hadn't been reading up on it, so was all new to me :)

      • I think it's cool to see them use the NFC function (you can use your Gear S2 to tap to pay function via Samsung Pay).
Still slightly sad that they couldn't fit the module used in S6 (MST I think?), which lets you conduct a wireless payment between your phone and any till that has a mag-stripe reader.

*Those fucntions I've mentioned are country specific, I think. Not sure whether Samsung Pay can be used in Australia.

That said, I guess I was following up on this fairly closely. Not because I was interested in a smartwatch, but because I want a note tablet.

Frankly thought the classic model would attract more people (looks more like a watch than a smart device, the straps are compatiable with normal watch straps etc). IP68 rating was nice touch too I think.

  • interesting its tizen not android wear. tizen on my galaxy gear 1 has very great battery life.
i hope they keep updating tizen on my gear 1 and introduce more apps

  • An interesting bit of news I've read, Gear S2 may support iOS in future. The article I've found said, Samsung is "positively looking into opening [the Gear S2] up" to iOS."

  • $560 is insane for a classic model.
Although I like the classic model :)
