PC Case Fans only turning on 5 min after computer turns on

So as of a few days ago my case fans don't turn on when the computer turns on but randomly kick in after 5-10min. My case is an aerocool vx-e pro which has a fan controller. The original fans have since been replaced and new ones are about a year old and I've plugged out and in all the connections but problem remains.

I'm thinking the controller is faulty but why do they turn on after around 5 min? Any other possibilities or fixes?

This may be a stupid question, but how do you know it is a problem? Are you sure it isn't a case of power management settings and that the fans are only enabled once a certain temperature threshold is reached?

There could be some settings in the BIOS/software that turns the fan ON only when it gets too hot. Check to your motherboard's manual to see if there's any info on Fan Control.

  • The power cable connects to a fan controller cable which connects to each of the 3 fans and also to the controller buttons i guess. Buttons on the top of the case control the fans with stop (fans off), cruise (60%) and turbo (100%) so nothing connected to motherboard.

Thanks for your replies, could be a power problem. I should try a different one of those power cable things coming out of the psu.

possibly temp controlled. my cpu fan doesn't turn on straight away.

is there another motherboard fan connector you can try plugging them in to?

  • Why you need the Fans on before the first 5 minutes?
