Melbourne Airport Parking (Long Term at Tullamarine)

I'm looking at parking at Melbourne Airport for 14 days at the end of year. I was having a look at car parking options and Melbourne airport's site quoted $79 for 13 days (saving of $60 from their regular price, apparently). This seemed significantly cheaper than many other places, eg ACE ($141 undercover self park) or Andrews ($145 undercover). I always thought that Melbourne Airport would be more expensive.

Anyone have any clues as to why they'd be cheaper? Or can anyone share experiences using the Tullamarine Airport parking? I've used both ACE and Andrew's before, and on both occasions they were cheaper than parking at the airport itself.

Given that the airport parking is quite a lot cheaper, is there any reason not to book there, and choose a private operator instead?

  • Is the airport parking for $79 covered?
I'm pretty sure only the short term parking at the airport is covered.

Where are you coming from? Is public transport and sky bus not an option?

    • We live about 35ks from the CBD, and there are 4 people travelling…so public transport isn't really an option (it would mean a walk to the bus stop, bus, train then skybus - all with luggage).

Thanks for highlighting this difference - I couldn't see anything on Melbourne Airport's website as to whether long term was undercover or not!

      • If you haven't used Uber before… You could Uber to southern cross, then skybus.

Or you could do a quote on a Uber all the way to the airport. With a $25 voucher it might be reasonable if you split between 4 (presumably 2 couples?) Then on the way back someone else who hasn't used it book it.

I think the skybus option could actually cost more all together than a taxi or a uber from your house so I wouldn't do that.

        Just a thought.

  • Long term is Not covered. I have used it few times. No hassle. But remember, you will need to catch a bus to reach terminal from parking. Buses run every 4 min from parking to terminal and return and it's free service.

  • Seems a good price. I usually use ace for short/long term parking, but mainly because my car is still a bit new and I'm a bit precious about not parking it outside :) in June I paid about $120 at ace for 11 days undercover secured parking.

  • +1

Long term isn't undercover as others have said. In saying that you can do long term "at terminal" car parking.. where you basically park in the undercover multi-level short term section but that is considerably higher in price

Dont forget to use the PROMO CODE : JETSTAR

will save you another 5% roughly, and no you dont have to be flying jetstar.

  • Be VERY careful using the airport parking. The terms and conditions are very very tight about entry And exit times. They give you a window and if you are outside that window the prices rocket.

    • I've had to exit outside of the pre booked windows a few times due to delays etc (why do I keep flying Tiger?) - as long as you have a good reason you can explain it to the people at the customer service office and they are usually pretty cool about letting you out.

  • $79 for 14 days. The last time I parked short term that got extended due to flight problems with relatives, I got charged nearly that much for a few hours.

  • We used long term parking at Tullamarine in April. The pricing wasn't too bad - but we did return to find that the catalytic converter had been removed from our car. We needed to find an exhaust centre and have a new unit welded back in before we could begin our journey back to the outer sth east burbs - not a nice way to arrive back home after a 15+ hour return flight. Apparently it happens frequently…

    • WOW someone stole your exhaust ? and i thought stealing number plates was bad enough !
