TV Antenna Port

Hi All,

I have just moved in a very old property (rented) where I have noticed a very unusual aerial port.

2 small hole (Vertically) Looks like 3.5mm hole

From the other tech forum I came to know it ia an 300 Ohm port.

But seems like there is no plug / pin for those type of port.

Jaycar got something whereas one end got 2 "U" shaped wire. But I am not sure how to insert those.

Please help me to find out.

TIA
Rusho

  • is there metal around the holes? if so, there are supposed to be screws in the holes, the U parts go around the screw, and you screw it down to hold it in place.

  • Aaahhh. Old school ribbon cable. Long time since I've seen any of that!

You may be able to find an adaptor, but likely the signal will be dodgy for digital TV as the cable has less insulation.

I think the jay are one you have looked at is probably for going the other way. Connecting a round wall socket to a TV with two points.

  • You need a 300ohm to 75 ohm converter. http://www.jaycar.com.au/Sight-%26-Sound---Home/TV-Accessori… or go to Adaptex and they may be able to help you http://www.adaptex.com.au/. Call your landlord and get them to get someone to replace the cable. Its a tax deduction.
